iTouchless SoftStep 13, This is kind of small so I have to change the garbage bag. But because of that

Very solid product and looks very nice. When press the foot pedal, the lid will open, then it will automatically shut slowly. Good size with a lot of room.

Very nice addition to our kitchen.

I was buying 2 or 3 plastic foot pedal trash cans a year from local stores because the pedal always broke. I was going to buy a stainless steel from a local but the largest one they had was 11 gallon. This trash can is perfect for 13 gallon tall kitchen trash bags. I have only had this trash can for one week but it seems sturdy and should last many years. It cost more but it is worth it. It will save money in the long run and you can fill the entire bag with trash. It also seems to be a better quality than the selections i have seen at other stores.

Looks amazing with my stainless steel appliances. Update: i bought a second one for my mom.

Huge and very elegant design and look. My wife loved it after i bought it for our new place. Size is large but not too too big. I dont do small trash cans anyways so this was perfect.

Adds a bit of ‘class’ to the kitchen. Easy to use, roomy, holds the large white plastic kitchen bags quite firmly, opens wide and slowly closes. Only ‘con’ is the distance it must be situated from the wall/countertop edge so that the lid doesn’t bang into it when you open it. In our case it is 4′ out from wall (i put several small clear plastic bumper circles along the counter edge as a buffer). Or 6′ if you want to use the feature that keeps the lid open for an extended period. Have only had it for a week so i imagine we’ll get used to the necessary placement.

I use this for the disposal of diaper. This is kind of small so i have to change the garbage bag. But because of that, it smells less.

Comments from buyers

“Good looking kitchen trash receptacle, Perfect trash can, Great customer service.”

The appearance of the trash can is very beautiful, the size is fit for our home and the quality is so good.

Doesn’t hit the wall and can be pushed all the way against the wall. Trash bag when put on can be tucked in between pull out and outer can so you don’t see it when its closed. Great size and i love the slow close lid. Seems very well made and looks great.

Wanted to get a heavy duty trash can so our dog doesn’t knock it over.

Just what we needed in the master bath.

Large garbage that looks nice.

Love the stainless steel look to it. Smooth operation of the unit. Exactly what i was looking for. Plus the package arrived earlier than the expected date.

I love the wide mouth opening, easy to get the bag in and out. There are molded handles on the sides of the inner container that makes lifting out a heavy, filled trash bag so much easier than past models we’ve had. Great product, excellent price.

This is a nice looking trash can and the perfect size for my kitchen. It has a soft close lid and also has a department for air freshener.

I don’t know if there such a thing as the perfect garbage can, but this one is the perfect kitchen one for me.

Keeps stinks out of my house and looks good as well. Easy to change the bag and easy to clean any sticky finger prints off.

We liked our old trash can and did not know if we could find one as good but this one is better. Solid construction with slow close lid. Foot petal works well or you can just catch the outer edge of the lid and pull it open as we usually do. I can’t imagine a more costly trash can being any better.

Attractive, works great, good size.

The material on this trash can is very nice and light, which is easy on the pedal. Our previous simplehuman one was so heavy that the pedal broke. My only gripe is that there’s a weird clicking noise when you step on the pedal and it just makes me worried there’s something wrong with it, but so far it is working. Super pretty and easy to use.

Quiet – doesn’t slam shut, easy to open, no fingerprints and the plastic garbage bag actually stays in place. Best garbage can ever, so happy i bought this.

I like the inner can that comes out. Fits trash bag perfect and fills full. Bought 2, had to return one that was damaged, and return went smooth at no cost.

No issues at all with opening/closing. Even my partner commented on how much he loves the softstep.

Fits grocery bag, but unless you take the extra time, the bag will show just a little bit when the lid is closed. Small handle on the back is convenient. Stays open when pushed open all the way. Has a bucket insert that can be removed for emptying. It’s not heavy, but it’s still durable. My dog can open the lid wth his nose, and of course with the pedal.

this trash can was everything i thought it would be and more. The photo do not do it justice it is so slick and modern and i love that it has a plastic container inside of it as well. It’s super light weight and wipes down well.

Needed a garbage can that our dog couldn’t get into. I love how you can wipe off fingerprints from this. It closes slowly which is great – no slamming lid making a loud noise or pinching your fingers. Can totally fill a 13 gallon trash bag and slips out easily. Really pleased with this purchase.

I thought that this would for sure come dented but i was pleasantly surprised. The trash can was secured very well and arrived dent free.

Perfect size and shape for the space. Not too big but bigger than most others we found. Quiet and easy to change bags.

This trash can looks great, i love the concept, press the foot petal and it’s self closing feature. It is attractive in the kitchen. It is pricey but hopefully it will last as long as they say. I just received mine yesterday. What i don’t like is, the listing says silent close. . It slowly closes then you hear a clunk of metal hitting metal. It closes securely, and if it did not say silent closure i probably would not have thought twice about it, but for over $90. 00 i was expecting it to be a silent close. For that reason i gave it one less star. I will keep it, despite that. I debated between simplehuman trash can, as that is what i was replacing, that can never made a sound. Now i have some doubts for the life of the can lasting. The only reason i replaced the simplehuman, which was over ten years old.

I was skeptical as most other cans i reviewed didn’t last long. So after 6 months use the plastic piece that houses the metal stem rod broke. To my delight the phone number to the manufacturer we on the lid and they are sending replacement part they even comped the shipping.

At first i gave this 5 stars, and was very pleased with the quality, size and customer service provided by the company. We were missing the charcoal filter and they quickly sent me the missing part. We had a simplyhuman can, and this one actually seems better made. (updated review) so we have been using this can now for about 5 months and i am changing my rating to 2 stars. The black plastic loop that holds the metal lever broke off today – so the lid does not open when you touch the foot pad. Very disappointing considering how much it cost. I will contact the company to see if they can send me a replacement part – the lid is supposed to be under warranty for 6 months. I was able to chat with the customer service rep and they are sending me a replacement part. Therefore, changing my rating to very good.

I’m using it for kitchen waste headed for the compost pile. It is not dog-proof, however. My dog can open it with his nose. What i did was splatter tabasco sauce all over the inside of the lid, and let it dry. Dog knows what that smell means, and he’s not from this chile-growing state (new mexico), so he has left it alone for now.

I love this kitchen trash canister. Interior bin comes out so you can easily remove the trash bag. There’s a handle on the back for lifting it.

Ninestars DZT-80-4 Automatic Touchless Infrared Motion Sensor Trash Can : The BEST trash can!

There were a lot of mixed reviews about it on amazon, but it had all the features i wanted so i decided to try it out. Not so big it’s out of place in a kitchen, but way bigger than a puny 13 gallon standard trash can. It’s my favorite thing about it. We use 30 gallon bags and they work great and are easy to find. I love taking the trash out half as often as i used to. Because of the larger size bags (and more trash in the bags) they can be a pain to remove from the can. The lid- you walk up to the can, move your hand over the “eye”, and the lid automatically opens.

I really bought it for the large capacity. It was the only nice-looking large capacity one i found. But the motion sensor has become my kids’ favorite feature, so much so that we bought giant googly eyes for it, and call it the trash monster.

We use the 30 gallon size bags easily bought at any grocery store and they fit just fine.

  • Absolutely perfect!

Umbra Skinny Trash Can – Sleek & Stylish Bathroom Trash Can : Nice design, good quality

This is really cute, but not as “metallic” as the picture seems to indicate. I was concerned that it would be too narrow and look awkward, but it fits the space next to the toilet well in both my bathrooms. The high and low handle give this a modern look i really like.

A good wastebasket for the bathroom. The plastic grocery bags fit in this perfectly. I love that there is a little handle too. I think the best thing on this is the rounded bottom. I can’t stand cleaning the inside corners of a wastebasket. I’d rather throw them out and get a new one. Because the bottom of this wastebasket is rounded, nothing will every get stuck in the corners, so a quick rinse will do the job fine. Another great thing about this, is the price. Because the price makes it totally affordable to just replace the sucker rather than cleaning itplease click yes if my review have been helpful to you, it will encourage me to continue writing and updating my reviews, and leave a comment if you have any questions, i will be more than happy to answer if i can be of help.

Ordered this trash bin and it arrived at the promised time. When removed from the shipping box a six-inch long abrasion was noticed near the top edge of the bin. When contacted, amazon immediately replaced the item without my having to return it. The replacement unfortunately also had an abrasion near the top edge. This defect was not as sever as the first one but nonetheless disappointing. Amazon was so good about the initial replacement that i did not want to bother them with another, so i kept the bin. It would be interesting to see if the abrasions are endemic to the whole production. I like the size, shape color and price of the bin, it’s just a shame that the manufacturer’s quality control it not up to standard.

I was on a mission to find a compact trash can which would fit in my very small bathroom. To put it in perspective, i had about a 1. 5″ gap between the toilet bowel and the adjacent sink/cabinet. This was the third product i ordered via amazon. The first was simplehuman countertop trash can, brushed stainless steel, 1. 40 gal and i found this to be far too small for use as a bathroom trash can. As the name of the product implies, i would suggest only using this for more of a picnic type trash can. I then ordered this simplehuman profile open trash can, stainless steel, 10 l / 2. 6 gal which was too big for the space i had available.

I needed a slim waste can in bronze for my toilet area. This waste can fit right in, and i no longer worry about scraping the new toilet to remove the can. This was just one of the items purchased during a reno to make my bathroom accommodating to my elderly mother. In the photo you can tell the scale of the can, which fits very nicely is my rather small toilet area. Also shown in this photo is the toilevator we installed for mom.

Never thought i’d be so happy over a trash can, but these are perfect. I took a chance and bought the 3 pack, and i am so glad i did. Not only did one work perfectly in the guest bathroom, matching the decor perfectly, but one in the office and in the guest bedroom as well. Great size, easy to clean, nice design. Modern-looking, love the available colors and convenient little handle. I had a hard time finding any in the physical stores that matched my specs as well as these.

This can is well made with non sharp edges, non smelly, seems durable and a bit bigger than i thought which is a good thing. Indoor, color bronze looks almost like brown, but under natural light, it appears like amazon picture, just a bit lighter. However its not elegant metallic look as i hoped. It has matte finish exterior and polish interior, the bottom width is 8. 5′ at top ; height is 11′ – 13′ from lowest to highest point and 6′ depth. In the picture below, i lined it up with 4 gallons waste bag, and put it next to the slippers for you to compare the size. Finally, this trash can is still my good purchase thanks to the quality, stylish and modern design at an affordable price.

I was in need of a small waste can for my vanity room. Nothing too big or too small. Something that would fit a small 90 degree corner. Searching online i found umbra skinny polypropylene waste can was the perfect size. I found that this was a great purchase. What i like about it:it’s a nice small slim waste can. About 13 inches in height, it’s design to be narrow and space-saving. Fit great for tight corners. The price is very affordable at less than $10. The handle is great and makes it easy to carry or emptying out trash. This waste can is very good quality. Constructed of durable polypropylene, it has a little flex/bend to it. No need to worry about dropping it or banging it against the wall. It won’t crack or scratch easily. Also, it’s easy to clean with regular dish washing soap and water. The option of selecting over 12 different colors is nice thing offered by umbra. Wanting to match my white floors, i chose the white waste can. The white color looks goodthe best feature about this can is it uses regular grocery bags. These bags make good waste bags for this size of a waste can. Having lots of plastic grocery bags stored away from ralph’s, and walmart, it fits perfectly inside the umbra skinny polypropylene waste can. No struggle or hassle placing the waste bags inside.

Read the description before purchasing. It’s smaller than i expected but that’s my fault for not reading fully. Height wise, it’s what you would expect from a small trash can. But length wise when they say skinny, they mean skinny. I originally planned to use this in our master bath once we are finished remodeling. But with how skinny and small it is i’m just going to use it for beside the bed. I still like the design even though it is not what i expected. It was very well protected in its package. Overall, i’d recommend for someone who needs something small and compact. Just read the description before purchasing.

Epica Stainless Steel Compost Bin 1 : Super functional

It wipes clean so easily that i have never had the need to put it in the dishwasher, scrub it, or even use soap. Just hot water and a towel to dry, and there is never a smell left behind. There are a lot of questions about how airtight the container is, and here is my two cents:the lid already fits very well; however, i took the advice of the people who suggest a paper towel barrier between the liner (if you use one, and i do) and the pail. I take a segment of two [connected] paper towels and cut it lengthwise. I arrange those pieces in the pail so that either end of each piece of towel comes up the side of the pail and ends at the top – it’s a perfect fit and covers the inside of the pail completely. Then i add the liner, and with the layer of paper towel and the liner hanging over the lip, the lid now has an extra-snug fit. It’s a little more effort but it’s worth noting that i had a bad case of fruit flies last year. It took me about a month to get rid of them, and during that time i never had a single fruit fly in the compost pail. The lid was tight and i presume the charcoal filter is an effective deterrent.

The lid of this product appears to be comprised of two parts, which are permanently joined by spot welds or by some other means. The product would be five stars if two changes were made to the lid. We should be able to separate the top/exterior part of the lid, from the bottom/interior part of the lid. If we were able to easily separate the lid into its two parts, we would be able to replace/inspect the filters more easily and the filters could be made a little larger so that they would fit more snugly. As the lid is now designed, the main filter cannot be inspected/replaced without damaging/deforming it–and causing a situation where even more fruit flies are able to enter the main bin. Of course, the potential for customers having problem with fruit flies while using this bin would be greatly reduced if the inside of the lid incorporated a fine-mesh metal screen, covering the large holes at the top of the lid. A fine-mesh screen would prevent fruit flies from entering through the large holes at the top of the lid and making their way down into the bin. So, i’m suggesting that the manufacturer: 1. Install a fine mesh screen on the inside of the lid, covering the large holes at the top of the lid. Redesign the lid slightly so that the lid may be separated into its two component parts, so that the filters may be removed/replaced/inspected more easily. I am updating this review after using the epica compost bin for a few months. Fruit flies are a serious problem with this product. They are able to enter the large ventilation holes at the top of the lid and easily navigate around the filters, and into the composting materials below. This product desperately needs a fine-mesh screen, on the inside of the lid, to cover the holes at the top of the lid.

While this bin is perfectly well made – solid construction, no seams, lid that fits relatively well. The lid is supposed to open up to allow you to replace the charcoal filters inside. I know this because the description of the product says “comes with replaceable charcoal filter” (note the use of the word “replacable”). Alas, the lid is welded shut. There’s no way to open it up to get the filter out. So it’s a great compost bin for 2 to 4 months. And then it’s useless as a compost bin. :-((oh, i ordered a second bin just in case this was an anomaly but the second one is exactly the same. )update: so i got an email from the seller.

We’ve had this compost pail for a little over a week and it’s worked out great. We use compost bags inside the pail to keep it from getting nasty. We’ve also been pretty consistent about emptying out the pail nearly every day; we have a 90 gallon compost bin that gets picked up every week so it works best to keep as much of the compost outside in the 90 gallon bin as possible. It also works best to give the pail a quick cleaning before putting a new bag in the pail and begin using it again. The compost pail sits on our counter top and it looks good, the top is super easy to remove so you can throw your food scraps in with one hand while removing the top with the other.

I have zero complaints about this compost bin, for which reason i am giving it five stars, because that’s how amazon reviews work. However, based a couple of reviews that i’m reading now, i’m guessing that the main reason i’m pleased with this bin (apart from the fact that it performs its intended function perfectly well) is that i actually understand what a compost bin is and what composting involves. Here are some pointers, in case you are new to this:1. A compost bin is basically just a pot with a lid on it. If you are going to order this thing and then find yourself shocked when you receive what is basically just a pot with a lid on it in the mail (despite the numerous images on this page that clearly show what is basically a pot with a lid on it), then please just go buy a pot and save yourself the trouble of posting a really stupid review on amazon that blames the product for the fact that you didn’t realize what a compost bin was. Composting involves taking your food scraps that would *otherwise be trash* and keeping them in a bucket (or a pot with a lid on it) in your kitchen. For this reason, it will *get dirty*, just like the rest of the items in your kitchen that come in contact with food. You will often have to *wipe it down* to remove the residue of whatever you put in it, *just like everything else in your kitchen*. Don’t let the term ‘compost bin’ fool you into thinking that this product has the magical ability to self-clean.

I have been looking for some time. I have been using those used ice cream pails, (not the most attractive look) but hey it worked. The size 1 gallon is perfect for our needs. Husband dumps coffee grounds his egg every morning & i use at least once a day. It arrived on the 19th of dec. & i didn’t need to dump until the 26th. The matte finish was great, it blended in with my other stainless. There were a few scuff marks on the top of lid but it didn’t bother us & i figure that there will be a few more by the time were done with it. The lid with the filter has to be working (no smells) & better yet no fruit flies. We have been experiencing warmer weather for this time of year & before this baby arrived guess what, yep, fruit flies. Last but not least & actually my favorite thing.

I am a veteran composter, and it has long been a seriously stinky and messy dilemma. I finally went online and actually researched various kitchentop composters. This one won out, and i got it. I eat primarily raw fruits & vegetables, and for me, it holds about three days’ worth of scraps. For most people, it will hold more. I’ve had it about a month now. It doesn’t smell, and the fruit flies are not able to access the scraps–hooray. It’s super easy to clean, and it looks quite nice on the kitchen counter, next to the cutting board.

I bought this counter-top compost bin for my girlfriend as her old one had started leaking. Delivery was prompt, and i took it over to her place one beautiful sunday afternoon in the spring. We sat on the veranda and sipped chardonnay in what i then incorrectly interpreted as a comfortable silence. After a while i mentioned that i had a small surprise for her, and pulled the compost bin out of the box. It was elegant in its simplicity. The stainless steel finish shone in the sun, and the lid was cocked rakishly to one side as if to say hello. She slapped the bin from my hands and shouted that she didn’t want this new compost bin. She wanted the compost bin that she’d had for years prior, the one that was spontaneous and made her feel alive, the one that she actually loved. I was heartbroken as my hopes and dreams of our life together shattered and fell around me. Gone were the thoughts of using the bin as an impromptu ice bucket for the champagne we would share on the night of our engagement; as too were the thoughts of our future children placing orange rinds and banana peels in this bin.

  • This bin is great, unlike some of the reviewers here.
  • Great pail for composting

iTouchless 13 Gallon Stainless Steel Automatic Trash Can – Many years WITHOUT problems!!

I first purchased this item in september 2009 it is used many many times a day and it work very well without any problems and the batteries really do last for a very long time. I used four duracell batteries and wrote the date on them and got almost 2 years used out of them, for me there is no reason to buy the a/c adapter the batteries will work just fine. This can is in my kitchen so it open and close many times a day without problem. I just notice a problem with the closing of the lib after eight years of use, so did not even give it a second though went on amazon to see if it was still out there and ordered my replacement can. I like also that you can use any brand of can liners with it and the ring that the liners hang on will keep it from falling into the can. It was money very well spend.

After about a month with it we give it 5 stars. Works perfectly, you figure out pretty quickly what motions open the lid. Designed so typical kitchen bags are filled completely before needing emptying. Love the touch-free and the fact top closes tightly afterwards. No odors unlike the under counter one we had previously used. Update: 6 months in and still love it. Bought it for the convenience, but noticed can hold much more than plastic trash receptacles can because you can compress trash into it with its rigid metal sides. Other advantages: tops seals nicely when closed, so no odors, batteries last a long time. Haven’t needed to replace yet.

I bought this to use as a diaper bin and it’s been a true blessing. Even with it filled to capacity we only smell the nastiness for the brief moment the lid is open. Otherwise you’d never know the horrors that awaited inside lol. It’s been running strong on the same batteries since i bought it. Bags are easy to replace and the removable bag ring is fantastic. With the top back on the bag is secure and completely concealed. I’m not sure how much the charcoal filter helps, but my main concern was odor when the can is closed, and for that purpose it works perfectly. As an added bonus the unit looks fantasticupdate: i’ve been using this daily for six months or so and it is a workhorse. Still running on the same batteries i purchased when i received it and blocking diaper odor just as effectivelyupdate: so, after working perfectly since last november, a couple weeks ago the lid decided to give up on me suddenly and completely.I figured the batteries had finally died, so i swapped in a fresh set and nothing happened.

I’ve waited almost a year to write this review because i wanted to be sure this product was long-lasting. We have a tiny kitchen in our beach house and a tiny and weirdly shaped space for a trash can. I researched forever (just ask my husband) and finally settled on this one. It fits perfectly in the space and has surpassed my expectations in every way. It’s attractive and fits a ton of trash in a very discreet way.

I waited to review to make sure it works. After having a cheap plastic can with a lid that wouldn’t stay shut for weeks i broke down and ordered this. I just hold whatever is getting tossed over it and it opens. It also closes when you are done. The bad reviews about the bags slipping in are user error. Read the directions and install the bags properly with the ring update: it is about 5 months later and i still have not had to replace the batteries. And i open and close this can a lot. Very happy with this purchase.

I bought this trash can 8 years ago. At the time, it was hard to find any stainless steel trash can for an affordable price, so the fact that this was the most reasonable and it had the automated lid seemed like a pretty easy choice. It still looks great and works great. You can wave over the sensor to open the lid, or there is a button on the front of it to open the lid and keep it open. The lid does a great job of holding any odors in while its closed. Honestly i’ve never bothered trying to change out the carbon filters in it to use the advertised ‘deodorizer,’ and looking at the price right now, i wouldn’t start either. Some review mentioned the cord not being included – there is no ac adapter, it’s battery powered, and states that in the review. It states that the batteries last for up to a year, but personally, i find they last much longer than that for us and we use it regularly. Standard kitchen bags are used. There is a plastic ring inside that tucks the top of the bag in, so you don’t have bag hanging out over the edges.

I never thought i’d actually be excited about a trash can. I’ve had it for a few weeks now and it still amazes me. The sensor is great and if you want, there’s a manual open/close button. The only downside is you have to purchase the power adapter separately if you choose not to use batteries. Other than that it’s amazing.

Update 7/18/2018i’ve now owned this product for a couple of years. Pros:the dimensions are perfect for a small to medium household. Given the square-like shape, particularly on the top opening, allows for larger trash pieces to be seeded into the trash can. Guests always comment on this trash can – for its simplistic and modern appeal, but also for the automated sensor that opens the lid. It’s incredibly smooth and easy to operate, and once you go this route – you’ll probably won’t ever want to go to a manual trash can again. In addition, the filter provides great odor management. The batteries lasted over 8 months for me before having to change them out. Cons:the filter (housing unit for the activated charcoal bag to reduce odor) can become dislodged and lost in the trash. I’ve mysteriously lost and have had to replace the filter three times now. Despite this, i still love this trash can and would recommend it.

I just love my new trash can. I absolutely love that it is touch free. I do not have to step on any pedals, or open any lids with messy hands. Touch free has been around for faucets now finally i have my touchless trashcan. I also love that the bag does not get suck in the can when you remove it when it is full. There are air holes in the bottom that allow the can to vent so that it does not create a vacuum and you can remove the bag easily. There is also a ring at the top of the can that holds the bag onto the can to prevent the bag from slipping down inside the can (how cool is that?) there is a charcoal filter to help keep odors down and the large top opening is big enough that i can fit an empty gallon jug of milk or a folded pizza box into the can. The stainless steel design makes cleaning the outside a breeze. It came right on time and was packaged well. Just insert your ‘d’ sized batteries and you are ready to go. If you do not want to go with the battery option, there is a wall adaptor you can purchase. This is a great all around trash can. I am giving one to a friend for a baby gift as a diaper pail.

update september 25, 2018:in 2015 i purchased the product and after 3+ years i received their newer model. I am very impressed with that. I have made a quick test and raised the review to 5 stars. However, i see a lot of people found my review useful so want to give my honest review after using it a few more months. Mechanical unit improvedi have used the same battery in both old and new system. New model trashcan opens the lid fast and closed automatically. Old model could not open the lid. Sensor seems to be more sensitive.  itouchless deodorizer touch-free sensor 13-gallon automatic stainless-steel trash canread it before you buy it. I purchased first one in 2013 then when it broke, i considered it as bad luck. My second stopped worked a week back. It makes humming noise but lid does not open. I changed batteries but still no luck. I assumed the lid opening mechanism is broken. However since it was purchased only few month back, i called the itouchless customer service. They wanted to leave my no and never contacted. Eventually i decided to disassemble the header part.

InterDesign Patton Wastebasket Trash Can, Good choice for a bath waste paper basket

Had looked at several at local stores. All were heavier tha this one but the price was 2-3 times more expensive. For guest bathroom it’s perfect.

It lloks nice but it is to small for a trash can.

Very light and a bit cheap feeling. They’re only for guest rooms.

It’s a trash can, what else can i say?. Fits over the head if desired.

Carefully look at the size of this thing before you buy it. It is a really small garbage can – really for q-tips and cotton balls, and nothing of size. Perfect for a small powder-room or area where you need a little wastebasket but don’t have much space. The stainless steel is attractive, both to the eye and to fingerprints. It would have been nice if the basket had some coating to prevent smudging so easily. If you like the look and the size, this could be perfect for you. Just note it is incredibly small and also shows smudges quickly. However, it seems reasonably durable and should work fine for many light-uses.

This did arrive a little bent, but it was easy to straighten out.

Seriously, not a whole lot to analyze here. This is a small, attractive, cheaply-made, steel wastebasket. It’s reasonably attractive, and definitely preferable to plastic. It’s not big enough to be, say, your kitchen garbage bin for a family of five. It is, however, perfect for the small office or bedroom corner where you need to throw away a very small amount of trash. I live in the super-humid pacific northwest currently, so i wouldn’t put this in my tiny bathroom for fear it would quickly rust. For my wife’s office corner though, it’s perfect because its small enough to fit under a low table. This item does not get five stars because while it’s reasonably attractive it’s not exactly beautiful, and it’s a bit pricey for the quality and size in my opinion.

Comments from buyers

“Cheap but usable, Good choice for a bath waste paper basket, It is a trash can”

Who doesn’t need a modern shiny stainless steel wastebasket for the office or bathroom?. It measures 8 inches diameter by 9. Perfect for those small areas. Will this nicely brushed stainless steel wastebasket with the bright shiny inside hold up to water or will it rust?. That is a question that remains to be answered. Not knowing the other metal used to make this line, i presume iron is used, since it is magnetic. Magnets will not stick to all stainless steel depending on the other metal used to make the stainless, like chromium. Since this one is magnetic, i can almost guarantee you that somewhere along the line, i will see rust, especially along the weld marks on the base. But, by the time this happens, i will most likely want a new can anyway.

Read the dimensions before you order.

Cute but small, in the end we are happy with it.

Looks great in our remodeled bathroom.

This is an attractive and well built wastebasket that is ideal beside (or under) a desk or perhaps in a bathroom – particularly those with a modern decor. However, the suggestion on the amazon page that it could be used in a kitchen is wishful thinking – it is far too small for that (9. Particularly in the right setting, it could blend right it and go well with its surroundings as well as being functional and solidly constructed.

I have a ton of interdesign products that are wonderful, but. This trash can is notthis silver trash can arrived bent in a box and is made of thin metal. It is easily dented, bent out of shape or marred. I was able to mostly bend the trash can back into a reasonable circle but it is so flimsy that when my kids empty it, it gets askew and dented. I don’t often have to give a negative review but i would not recommend this trashcan unless it is just for decoration and will not be used.

Holds garbage, perfect for dirty tampons and used flushable wipes. Has a very noticeable seem on one side but wasn’t so bad after you had some junk inside.

I think i received two for the price of one. I would send them back except it’s not worth the trouble. I will be looking for a couple of larger ones. They are just plain silver, very light.

Check the measurements: it is a little smaller than i expected, smaller than all my other mini trash cans around the house. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, though, because it’s easier to clean if you don’t use a bag, and being stainless, it shouldn’t get mucked up if you do throw stuff besides paper in there. It does have a seam on one side, as i guess it has to. But that doesn’t look bad for a seam. The metal is thin, as you can imagine, but it’s thick enough and it looks really goodnice trash can. It’s the little things that make a house look better sometimes.

Goes perfectly in our redone bathroom.

Standard stainless wastebasket. We use ours in our guest bathroom where the finish matches our fixtures. It seems wider than our old one – but otherwise it’s pretty basic – which is exactly what we were looking for. No distracting patterns or designs.

Nice item that matches in with the brushed nickel decor of my recently renovated master bath.

This is your basic stainless steel waste basket. Quality seems pretty good and it looks nice.

Nice, well built, and good looking trash can. It is not made of stainless steel. Brushed metal finish on the inside and outside. Product photo appears like polished on the inside, but it is really not. There is a seam on one side. The trash can does leak, so it cannot be used as drinks cooler. I was hoping that it would be leak-proof and can offer multi-purpose use, but it doesn’t.

iTouchless Automatic Touchless Sensor Kitchen Trash Can – Stainless Steel – 13 Gallon – Round Shape – Works great love the sensor thing

I have purchased 4 different sizes of itouchless cans in the last 6 years. The 1- and 8-gallon sizes are still going strong since they get less use, but results have been less than stellar for the larger models that we have used for the kitchen. My original 18-gallon model worked fine for about a year and a half, after which the gear for the raising mechanism broke (as many reviewers have noted). I went ahead and paid the $40 to buy a replacement lid and that kept going for about another year and a half. I upgraded to the larger 23–gallon model at that point and haven’t had any issues (only 12 months going at this point). I like the really large capacity of the 23-gallon model; with 2 adults and 2 kids we generate a lot of kitchen trash, apparently. I haven’t had any rust issues with any of the units i have purchased, even though occasionally something does get spilled inside. The fact that it rolls on casters makes it convenient to push out of the way for cleaning the floor. All in all, i like the functionality of the can. We have never had sensor issues with ours, although i will say that our largest dog has figured out how to open it by waving his snout over the topi considered not buying a replacement when the second lid broke, but my family vehemently objected to the idea of going back to a manual trash can.

Awesome trash container with automatic lid. Holds the same amount as a regular trash can and looks terrific with any decor.

After only 4 months, i needed to replace the batteries. A little soon (in my opinion) but ok, it’s only a couple batteries. Now, 2 weeks after replacing the batteries, the unit has failed. Yes, i installed yet another set of batteries, but to no avail.Very disappointedcorrection: i would like to correct an error on my part. The trash can somehow mistakenly had the power switch turned off which created my issue. To be honest, i wasn’t even aware of the switch as i believe it was probably in the on position when i initially unpacked the trash can. The trash can currently works correctly. The only reason i can’t give it 5 stars is because of the short battery life. My apologies for the confusion.

If it doesnt work for you when you receive it, you have to make sure the batteries are securely in place. Roll them a bit when you have them in place. It is so awesome not to have to touch a nasty garbage can anymore. You worked very hard to get this to us on time and we appreciate it very much. Yours truly, patience noles.

You simply waive your hand over the top and it opens then closes on its own. Its perfect for my condo and fits right in the corner of kitchen. Excellent buy for an excellent price.

This is a fantastic product and i am super glad that i finally purchased it. It is currently serving as a central trash repository, located in the utility room which accesses the garage, so consequently is being used for inside and outside trash. Working wonderfully and exactly as described in the description of the product. Would highly recommend to anyone who is searching for a trash bin that is large enough to meet the needs of at least a family of four (it’s only me here in this house, but would easily support a family of four) and still functional and ‘looks good’.

  • Somewhat short “lifespan” but my family insists I keep buying these!
  • Awesome trash container with automatic lid
  • Life saver to keep dog out of the trash

Such a great trashcan for my kitchen and looks great. Opening on top is big enough for our everyday trash. I’ve had it for almost 4 months and no complaints :).

I hate to touch trash cans when working in the kitchen preparing food. With the automatic opening feature, i can drop trash in without touching the lid of trash can. Young children love to help throw trash away because of the ‘magic’ opening feature.

Easy to use and is nice looking.

I love it, nice size and very effective. I only wish it came with at least one trash bag, (there were none).

My friend asked me why you spend $60 on a trash bin?. Haha, i just like all high tech stuff.

Operates just like a touchless trash can should.

Got ac adapter and works perfectly. Wide opening ensures no misses. Opens perfect everytime, love it.Replacement for smaller one that we lost battery back for and kept having problems with.

Should have bought one of these a long time ago.

I just got this but it’s great so far. Opens up for 6 seconds and closes. Also stays open for a while if you push the ‘open’ button. You can see all that on the vid. Time will tell how well the filter works.

I absolutely love this touchless trash can. So convenient not to have to step on anything to open it and a lot more sanitary.

Great addition to my kitchen. Had another brand that i wasnt happy with – this replacement does the job much better.

100% Touchless Infrared Motion Sensor – No need to touch the lid! Just the motion of your hand opens the lid automatically.

Comes with charcoal filter which was a nice surprise. Works great and have had no issues so far. Will be purchasing smaller ones for other rooms from this company.

. I haven’t had any problems so far working great.

It keeps my dog out of the trash, which is what i bought it for. It automatically closes on his nose (very lightly and gently) as if to tell him, ‘no’.

I’ve wanted a sleek stainless steel garbage can to replace our cheap, ugly white can for ages and finally pulled the trigger when we moved into our new home. The sensor works perfectly with batteries. We’ve been using it for the past 3 months and battery life is still going strong after very frequent use (and toddlers who like to wave at it constantly to watch it open and shut). I love it so much that i once inadvertently tried to feed it while i was feeding my children. 😳🤦🏻‍♀️ it responded more quickly than my baby when i said “here, babe” while offering it some dinner. So he’s part of the family now. But warning: this trash can will spoil you and you may, in your parent-brain stupor, try to feed it or impatiently wait for all other non-automatic trash cans to open.

Although i loved this i had to return it for a larger size. These itouchless trash cans are fantastic.

Best trash can we have ever bought.

Perfect Kitchen Trash Can – Compact & space-saving.

Works great love the sensor thing, makes everything more sanitary.

And great product it works great.

Since the trash can was around a figured the whole be around but it’s not. It can still fit a normal size paper plate. So far i have not had any issues.

This is the best kitchen trash can and very well priced.

Just enough space to change trash bags in a timely manner.

Stainless Steel – This stainless steel trash can is fingerprint-proof, smudge-resistant, and easy to clean.

Powered by 4 D batteries (not included) or optional AC Adapter (sold separately)

Rubbermaid Commercial Products FG295600BLA Plastic Resin Deskside Wastebasket : The rock star of wastebaskets

This can is amazing, it hasn’t melted, or fallen apart. It’s well built, it hasn’t exploded or changed colors. It’s not gotten itself lost. It’s not frozen and needed a reboot. Also, it’s maintained the same gray color that it came with. It has ample power to collect garbage. It works with all iphones and androids. It works with the earth’s gravity to stay on the floor and not float away — strongly recommended.

Holds trash and recyclables perfectly. Doesn’t need charging or software updates. Works during power outages and inclement weather. If you turn it upside down, you can sit on it in an emergency. Every house should have one.

Top opening 15 1/2 x 11 1/4 inches and height is 20 inches. It seems to serve it’s purpose well.

This looks exactly like the kind of recycle bin you would see used for paper in an office environment, but i’m actually using it as a kitchen recycle bin for cans and bottles. If you go through a lot of recyclables, you might want to consider getting a larger one, but i think this one is right for me. Positives: stylish color and design. Name brand product for a reasonable price. Negatives: too big to use a grocery bag as a liner, but small enough that a 13-gallon bag fits loosely.

In 1977 i bought my first house, and promptly went to a local store and bought two rubbermaid wastebaskets, one for the kitchen and one for the basement. I’ve gotten married, moved, and they followed me through the years to my current kitchen and workshop. The one in the workshop got more abuse and cracked a few years ago. The kitchen trash can is kept under the sink and is dragged in and out of its home 2 or more times a day. Finally, 37 years later (), the top edge began cracking from being grabbed by the rim many times daily. Needless to say, i wanted another rubbermaid. I couldn’t find the right size here in town, but this was perfect. It’s exactly the same height and width as the old one, so it fits perfectly under the sink. It seems even more sturdy than the original, and probably costs about the same, which means in 1977 dollars it’s practically free. The color is a little darker than pictured, more like taupe.

It holds things i put in it. Didn’t come to life and try and kill me.

YukChuk Under-Counter Indoor Kitchen Food Waste 1 – I’m happy with it.

Big enough for our household of 5 to get a couple of days of compost space, but not so big that it encourages waiting for ‘compost soup’. It really is amazing at blocking smells and keeping insects out (did a great job of cutting down our fruit fly population :-), and installed quickly and easily in our under-sink kitchen cabinet without getting in the way of the door closing, or necessitating a massive overhaul of the bottles and bags and etc. Down there – its slim profile means that it doesn’t get in the way as i initially feared. The rectangular body is designed just right for putting next to the kitchen counter to scoop scraps into, and it’s wide enough that it prevents spills effectively, which had been a problem with our previous square countertop bin. One handed operation is a literal snap, both to open the bin and to get it off the bracket. Re-hanging it is a bit more of a pain, but not too bad. Long story short, this little wonder has cleared up a bunch of counter space, keeping the nasty bits away from our utensils and cookware, and also made composting an easier, simpler process overall.

Really does seal in odors and prevent fruit flies. Maybe not a whole watermelon’s rind, but it fits a lot more than i expected. I use it without bags so i just carry it to outdoor compost to dump it and then rinse it out. It is not mold resistant but probably if it were that would mean it’d been treated with some kind of chemical, so that’s ok by me. Again, because it locks in odors it won’t make your kitchen smell moldy if mold does grow in it. It’s also very quick and easy to open and close the lid. I do not have mine mounted to the door it simply sits on the base of the lower cabinet. Narrow enough to sit in front of my cleaning supplies and not interfere with door closing.

This kitchen compost bin is pretty much exactly what i was looking for. We just started composting and it was a real pain to have to carry my scraps out each time i was finished in the kitchen. Because of the slim design, i was able to hang it on the inside of the cabinet under the sink without loosing much cabinet space. This keeps it out of sight and reach of the dogs. It’s super easy to open and close with one hand. It doesn’t smell and it’s really easy to clean. I usually just hose it out whenever i carry waste out to the compost pile.

I don’t like to keep a lot of things on the countertop and the old plastic paint can i had in the sink not only was ugly and got in the way, i kept getting fruit flies with the plastic can because it was too inconvenient to re-seal several times a day. Because of the placement of the sink & garbage disposal, i have very limited space under the sink, but this fit and works perfectly for me. I mounted it as high as possible under the sink so i don’t have to bend over. I like the fact that it seals tight enough to keep the fruit flies out and also that i do not need to worry about replacing or cleaning a filter. I just throw everything directly in the bucket, dump the contents into the compost pile once or twice a week and rinse it out using the faucet outdoors. When needed, i use the sprayer in my kitchen sink and/or an old sponge to wipe out any remaining gunk. The smooth plastic cleans right up.

Growing up we used a plain rubbermaid container under the sink for our edible waste before disposal into the compost pile and it was stinky and cumbersome and hard to clean. This little pail is awesome, it was installed easily to the inside of the cabinet, fits neatly under the sink, the latch is secure and there is even a rubber seal. I have not had any issues with oders or spills. Not to mention this is the perfect size for my small family to accumulate our food waste- it usually fills in 2-3 days and makes us empty into the compost at appropriate intervals.

Easy to use, like the bags so i don’t have to wash out the container after emptying. Can was easy to mount on the inside of the door under the sink. Bags fit securely over little hooks and don’t sink down in the bin. Have already emptied once, no problems. Container is smaller than the one i had before so i have to empty it more often but that’s ok. I always had problems with the compost smelling before the can was full.

  • How many yucks could a Yuk Chuck, chuck?
  • I’m happy with it.
  • Keeps compostable debris outta site

I preferred the green ones as they blended in with the compost better. We do not attach our bin to the cabinet door so the front for us is the part where it would be hanging on the door, and the back is the side where the lid is attached. When i attach the bag, i hook it onto one spike first, stretch it around the back (part where the lid is attached), hook it onto the other spike, and then gather all the excess and tie a knot in the center which i stuff under the lip. This holds the bag so securely that it frequently doesn’t come out when we empty the bin and if it isn’t too gunky i can get a second use out of it. Even when it takes me 2 weeks or more to fill the bag, it has never leaked, but at the same time the bags we tossed last fall have not yet decomposed and it’s been over 6 months. Granted, it’s been winter, and i don’t know if that slows down decomposition or not. Most of the time, i carry the bin to the pile and empty the contents, then remove the bag so that at least the veggies are composting even if the bag isn’t. On occasion, when it’s been too wet or too cold to make the trek to the bin, i’ll tie the top and leave the bag in the garage for a day or two. Edited to add: i contacted the company about the white bags and they say they are going back to green.

how many yucks could a yuk chuck, chuck, if a yuk chuck could chuck yuck?. Well this yukchuck has been chucking all of our yuck for nearly two years without complaint. Chuckyuk has created a clever yet simple latch design that makes for easy one handed chucking. Surprisingly, no odors escape the closed bin, even when food scraps are stored for up to a week, or longer. About once a week we empty the bin into our compost heap. It feels good to chuck things in, knowing that all of our organic food scraps are going back into the soil, and are not going into a landfill; to be preserved for hundreds of years for future archeologists to ponder confusedly on. I just wish our community would have mandatory separation of food scraps for the town’s yard compost site. There are so many soil nutrients being lost to landfills across the country. Thank you yukchuck for doing your part to help us do ours, in helping to preserve this world. Be sure to check out the related video and turn up the volume loud, to marvel at the thunderous sound of stale christmas cookies sailing into the yuk chuck.

This thing fits well in a cabinet, locks securely and we never smell it regardless of what is in it.

My wife and i just completed a remodel and debated whether to have a nice looking countertop waste holder, or a hidden one. Went for this bin to hide it away. Smart design to have the lid open away from the cabinet door. Keeps the whole bin from lifting up. Takes a little practice to open it with the hooks that hold it closed. I hold the handle with my thumb and index finger to ‘assist’ the release of the lid. We only hook it on the one side, which is plenty to keep it sealed. We use compost waste bags in it. When it’s time to take out to our outdoor compost bin for pickup, we just lift out the bag. When it does need to be cleaned, very easy to lift the bin off the plate attached to the inside cabinet door.

I think that some of the 1 star reviewers have valid points but are a bit harsh. The plastic appears to be a cheaper plastic which may be more prone cracking if mishandled which makes this a little over priced. If you do have weak/cheap cabinet hardware, it may not properly support the bucket when full or opening. I drilled small pilot holes and screwed it on in a few minutes time. I do like the bag anchors which hold the bag up and in place. They’re sharp but face the cabinet but one needs to take care while dumping the compost not to scratch themselves. I do like the fully closing lid to keep fruit flies out along with containing the odors. Why table top compost bins have holes in them, i’ll never quite understand. The locking top is a trade off. It’s kind of clunky to open but i’m getting used to it. Off hand, i’m not sure how i would improve it. There is a training curve on the user part to become proficient at opening the top while it hangs on the door. I was very clumsy at it, at first but after a few tries, i figured out the correct way to do it.

Perfect for our household of 2 adults who cook and eat most meals at home. We live in an apartment and this keeps smell away and helps to keep our counters clutter free.

There aren’t a lot of non-vented compost buckets on the market but if i did’t vent my trash (before i composted) and tried to seal it up tight, why would i want to vent my compost?. This is meant to be used with compostable bags and i won’t vouch for use without them. This is small enough to mount inside a cabinet and easily removes for cleaning. It is small enough to fit in my dishwasher when inevitably it gets dirty (usually the top from opening/closing it. ) unless you have a huge family you don’t want a larger size because it will get gross before it is full. Also, the compostable bags a size up are gigantic and expensive. We had a minor issue with ours but customer service was great, really great. My only issue with it is that the bags don’t stay up well. I wish they had one of those pull-through-and-pinch things that some commercial trash cans have to prevent the bags from falling down.

My husband is not to sure about this whole composting thing. So it’s been my job to pull the bag full of veggie scraps and throw this into our outdoor composting bin. But i can tell you it keeps sealed, there is no odor and funny even throughout the week when you open and close it, it doesn’t stink. . But when i go to empty it into the compost bin. Wow, those veggies are for sure composting and stink with alot of liquid in the bottom of the bag. So you do need to use the composting bags and empty into an outdoor compost pile or bin each week. Saves a ton of scraps from going into the trash or garbage disposal.

Our city collects ‘organic material’ along with our recyclables and trash. They provided a countertop bin but it was no good. We have been using the yukchuk for about a year and really like it. We use bio bag liners and experience no smell and no bugs. The only thing, and this could be user error, is that it seems like the little ‘thorns’ should be on the other side. On the side they are on, the bag is already secured by the hanging mechanism. On the other side, the hinge side, the bags sometimes slip down into the bin, causing a mess. Putting the thorns on the hinge side would alleviate this. As i said, this could be user error but since both of us are pretty intelligent, i would then have to say that it is not very intuitive.

Great to hold compost, convenient mounting on cabinet door under sink, no smell even when it’s full. 4 stars because it’s a pain in the neck to attach the bags so they don’t sink into the binupdate 10/19/15this worked great until the handle broke. Now the lid separated from the body. We’re also getting some fruit flies, perhaps because the replacement handle was not sealing the lid well. Company is sending out a whole new replacement unit. It’s nice that they have a lifetime warranty. I looked into stainless, ceramic, and other plastic bins but every one had some reviews that complained of fruit flies. The ‘yukman’ i just spoke with was very nice and very responsive. Hope the replacement until seals well.

This has been a great addition to my apartment. My roommates and i were constantly battling smelly garbage cans that we’d have to empty prematurely just because of smell and not because its full. Now i mounted this under our sink in the cabinet (just barely fits in our setup) and its so convenient. I line it with a bag and with 3 of us we fill this up in about 7-10 days. And we really over stuff this thing to be honest, but as long as we get the top locked down it stays odor and fruit fly free in our apartment. Good for the environment, save money by avoiding throwing away half full smell normal trash bags, and my kitchen smells normal now too. May not be as fancy looking as counter top ones, but i don’t want my compost on my counter, i want something practical and hidden.

UPGRADE to a YUKCHUK under counter food scraps bin and ‘presto ’NO odors, No fruit flies. No charcoal filter replacement costs, NO need. Made from high-density polypropylene, (HDPP), the same material used in milk containers and other food containers.

. Just kiddingif we must have a business man as president, i nominate gordon newman of the yukchuk party – king of kustomer satisfaktionwe have been using our yukchuk steadily for several months and must agree with all the positive comments you’ll find in other reviews. No insects, odor stays in the bucket, sized right for our family of 3 ( we empty it daily, no need to let that stuff ripen in the bucket. Get it to the composter ), handy mounting for ease of access back of the under sink door. (our old ceramic cookie jar used to work well, but nice having less counter clutter and it was a pain to empty and clean). Just the right size to place in the sink so we can slide scraps right in. Rinses easily, easy to open and close and empty. We’re very happy with our choice – highly recommended.

At first the locking lid was a little off-putting. I was used to containers with a simple lit to place on top. However, the absence of any odour made me love this little bucket. I use old newspaper to line mine so there’s almost no cleaning.

I have two diabetic cats and three litter boxes. I needed something to hold scooped litter while i went from litter box to litter box, and to hold it until i filled a bag. This has done the job extremely well. The one-handed open/close/carry design makes it easy to move between litter boxes with this in one hand and the scooper in the other. The lid fits tightly so there’s no odor escape between scoops. I use grocery bags to line it. Even though there’s nothing to ‘hook’ the bag on, if the bag is well situated when i first put the bag in, i haven’t had any problems with the bag slipping. Not it’s intended purpose, but it works very well for this.

It hangs on the inner door beneath our kitchen sink– its slim frame allows for a plethora of other things to be stored alongside it. The hinged lid forms a complete seal; no odor has ever escaped from the bin. The handle is comfortable to hold, and due to its unique design, the yukchuk always remains securely closed as i deliver the compost to our outside bin. The yukchuk is the perfect size for a 3-person family’s weekly load of egg shells, coffee grounds and various vegetable peels. After using it daily since 2014 the lid became damaged; customer service was quick to respond with a replacement. I can’t imagine a better compost container.

I waited a while to write this review to see how this worked out. We’ve been using this for over a year now and we have a lot of compostables (we can and freeze a lot of our own produce) and this is still working like a champ. The lid fits tightly so we have had no problems with odor or flies. It is a little tall for my sink, and since i don’t use bags in it i do have to wash it regularly. Luckily i have a sprayer, so it being so tall isn’t really a problem. We mounted it inside the cupboard door beneath the sink, and i remove it if i’m using it a lot. I also remove it when it gets 2/3 full and just set it on the counter because i don’t want the weight of the full bin to pull the hinges out of alignment–it does hold a lot.

I had a little trouble figuring out where to put it because my sink is extra deep and hangs down further than i wanted to mount the bin, and my cabinet doors are shaker style, so i needed to attach it to the top brace or i’d have had to put another board across to attach the bin to. I was able to put it in my trash cabinet – which works better anyhow since it is higher ( less bending over) i am reminded when i toss the trash to put the compost in the bin instead. I’ve loaded over a week’s worth of garbage in it several times and it never leaks any smell. It is easy to carry out to my compost dump and everything slips out easily, even the bottom corners. I don’t use bags, just rinse it when needed. I’m trying to reduce waste and it seems a little ridiculous to spend money on bags. I have run it through the dishwasher a couple times and it came out great. I kept it on the kitchen counter for the first week, though, and that worked very well too.

FREE up your valuable COUNTER SPACE with a behind the cabinet door YukChuk. Our design is specifically functional for ease of filling and storing food waste.

I like it and it works very well. It’s well made sturdy and closes tight keep smells in and bugs out. As a single guy it is a good size to hold a weeks worth of food scraps generated from food prep while cooking. The only negative i can give it is i wish there was some way to secure the trash bag on the back by the hing. When tossing in say carrot peals and such you have to be careful to avoid it falling behind the bag and into the bin. Not a big deal but it would be nice and far more convenient.

The best compost bucket yet. The lid snaps shut very well. I have no fruit flies with this product. I use my kitchen compost bucket every day and then transfer it to my worm bin when the yukchuk gets full enough. I admit there is a smell that builds up if i don’t either transfer to the worm bin when it’s about 1/4 full or if i put some citrus fruit of some kind in there with the other kitchen scraps. The smell is a small price to pay for no fruit flies. I don’t use a plastic bag insert at all as i don’t want to dump more plastic into the environment. I just wash it with soap and water every time i transfer it to the worm bin and it cleans up like a charm. I’m thinking of giving several away to friends. I highly recommend this product.

Great design for a food waste container. 1) i like how easily it attaches / detaches from the wall mount2) i like that the lid securely locks down, to prevent fruit flies from getting in — yet the top can also be removed very easily at the same time3) the mounting hardware that was included was great, and i appreciated the warning about making sure the screws were not too long for the under-sink cabinet door (lest they poke through and/or destroy the cabinet door in the process of putting them in). After reading the warning, and checking, i decided to mount it to my wall instead.

I bought the yuk chuk, which by the way is wonderful, it’s hidden in a cabinet instead of a bucket on my countertop. Bought these bags to try and they are wonderful. They are way better than the bio bags, they are a bit thicker and don’t leak or smell. The bio bags leak and i sometimes have to double or triple the bag but not these yuk chuk bags they work like they are suppose to,.

This addresses our two main requirements for our next compost bin (first completely exclude fruit flies from our kitchen compost bin and second free up our counter space currently occupied by the compost bin. )our old compost bin was a cut ceramic counter top bin that we had been using for years, despite the fact it had been broken and glued back together multiple times. It had served us well through 5 different homes, but the most recent location has a fruit fly issue and so we decided to upgrade. If you are considering this and already have a compost bin i recommend upgrading to this (it is not as cute, but it keeps the flies out and hold more.

Its slim design allows it to fit easily under my sink. I ended up deciding not to hang it on the door but i’m sure it would work well that way, too. When the bucket is closed, there is absolutely no odor. I may buy a second one for those snowy days when i don’t want to truck out to the compost pit every day or two. Update: i am soooo disappointed because this has been my favorite in-kitchen compost bucket, yet i’m going to have to switch to something else. It’s slim design allows it to easily sit under my sink. There’s no filter to replace, yet it keeps odors away as if it had one. And, the lid design allows easy one-handed opening and closing. Yet it’s the lid that’s the problem.

My compost process is three step and was getting short shift until i found this great gadget. It has several advantages for me over my previous efforts. First is that it’s easy and intuitive to open and close tightly so there is no odor or mess. The bin has little hooks on the sides that hold a biodegradable bag securely which makes transferring the contents to my larger deck compost holder much nicer and leaves me with a clean container for my next load. This unit a good size and not in my way in the kitchen. I have little counter space so i’m happy that this can sit inobtrusively next to my trash can on the floor. I can bring it up to the counter to load if i’m prepping salad ingredients, peeling apples or shucking corn and i can hold it under the countertop lip to scoot in smaller amounts of scraps. When the bin is closed the handle is really nice for moving it and tipping the handle forward unlocks the sealed closure and opens the container. The bin comes with mounting hardware if you want to put it inside a cabinet door, but i didn’t use that and am happy with it on the floor or counter as my work dictates. I did have a big bowl i was using for kitchen scraps since i could easily empty that into the larger closed bucket on my deck, but the bowl not only took up too much counter space, it was a pain to use if i only had a few scraps at a time since it was open.

Mounts behind kitchen sink cabinet door for easy out of sight access, easy one-handed use for loading and just lift to carry. Bracket and stainless steel screws included.

Upon receiving our yukchuk nine months ago, i poured water into it and upended it. Distressed that it leaked, i contacted gordon newman at [email protected] He promptly responded, explaining that water is heavier than air and that odors would not leak when the yukchuk is closed (of course they waft out when its open). He requested we try it and stated that we could return it if not fully satisfied. So here i am, nine months later, finally getting around to writing my first ever-review. We love the yukchukodors do not leak from our closed yukchuk and after years of having various kitchen food waste containers sitting on the counter, it is wonderful to have it hang discretely on the inside of a cabinet door (the bracket was very easy to install). The sturdy container is easy to open and close with one hand. The only warning we have is that during the summer, we have to be more vigilant about emptying the yukchuk because of fruit flies.

After having this thing for over a year, i have mixed feelings. It stores our compost and keeps the stink in. It cleans up reasonably easily. Our first problem was with the mounting bracket, there was no way that it could mount on the thin wood of our cabinet door under our sink. Not a big deal since there was an available space next to our recycle bin. The second problem was with the little plastic tab that holds the lid closed. One of them snapped off very soon after we bought the thing. Customer service was great and sent us a new handle very promptly. About a year later, the same plastic piece broke again and i replaced it by drilling a small hole in the handle and inserting a small wood screw. While this may have voided any sort of warranty, the screw is much more durable than the twice-broken plastic pivot.

HOT wash and HOT cycle Dishwasher safe, not like the other guys who’s material will withstand Cold in dishwasher.

Fortune Candy Step Trash Can – I really like this little trash can

I really like this little trash can, very nice and clean, really good for my bathroom. This is exactly what i was looking for.

I thought it was larger but i still like it.

Used in our bathroom, a great fit next to the throne.

Perfect for laundry room and bathroom. The step actually does work (unlike some others i have had where it is too flimsy to use and one still has to end up using their hand to lift the top). We have a dog that likes to investigate the trash at times so the lid did the trick at keeping her out and it still looks nice too.

It is small but thats okay for this job.

A perfect small size for collecting counter trash. Steel less resistances rusty.

  • Very Very Small, but you might need that.
  • Nicely sized for a small bathroom servicing a family of two.
  • We like it for what we needed it for- a small

I will love it if it continues to operate this well. Perfect size, lid closes smooth.

Trash bags are perfect for can.

I mainly got this because i needed a trash bin with a lid, as our cats kept falling into our old bathroom bin. Should’ve paid more attention to the size of it since it is very small, but the description was fairly up front with that information. I might end up getting a slitly larger bin for the bathroom, but i think i can use this bin for other things. I’m mainly giving this 5 stars because it seems well made and they didn’t try to hide how small this is.

Nicely sized for a small bathroom servicing a family of two. Nice slow closing/noiseless lid. How long will foot pedal endure daily usage?.

We like it for what we needed it for- a small bathroom trash can (mainly used for water cups, flossers, and kleenex). Only complaint is that the top of it has dented fairly easily. Other than that we love the little bucket inside- my little kids carry it downstairs and empty it in our bigger trash can.

It’s great if you’re looking for something pretty small. But for me it was even too tiny for the bathroom. Maybe good for a room you do not frequent.

Opening and closing works very smooth. Nice and well designed insert makes the job of emptying the can easier.

The size of this trash can is perfect for office or bathroom, lid opens up easily with a step. The lid traps the odors in and keeps the area from smelling bad.

Small for the price, but looks nice and keeps the smell in. Used for one cat to keep litterbox clean.
