Hefty Touch Lid 13 : “What’s in your can”.

This less than satisfied about the price.

I like the lid, so easy to open, just push the button.

This is the best trash can ever. It really does keep orders in, holds the bag secure, the lid is very sturdy, and the can itself is durable. I would definitely recommend this product and would order it again.

Solid bin with a nice latching top.

The color(red) go great with all the red in my kitchen. It is very hefty, trash does not smell with the top on it.

Great size for various purposes.

Hefty Touch Lid 13.3 Gallon Red Trash Can, Keeps odors in when closed

  • Capacity: 13.3 Gal (50 Liter)
  • Uses 13-Gal tall kitchen trash bags
  • Spring-loaded lid opens with the touch of a button
  • Press lid down to close Red trash can with stylish finish Lightweight, durable plastic construction
  • Keeps odors in when closed

Got this can to replace one that we have had for years. This one is very sturdy and the top is very well made.

Easy to operate lid (push and pops up). Perfect for kitchen but i use mine in my outdoor shed.

The lid never worked, so i threw it away. But the color is perfect in my kitchen, so i’m happy.

The size is perfect for the space and the red is a match.

I had one just like this in white, had it for about ten years, then the spring gave out, if it’s possible to love a garbage can i loved this one, still have it use it for recycling. I couldn’t find one with the spring load in the store, bought one that’s suppose to pop up but only pops up half way. No spring loads anywhere, now i have a brand new red one that will be loved and taken care of.

The part that worried me was the springs in the top; but they work fine. It came fast and package well. If it is still working after 6 months then i will give 5 stars.

I purchased this trash can to keep my dog out of the trash. It is ok (she hasn’t figured out the issue, yet. Where the lid attaches to the can, it only has a catch on the side where to ‘open’ button goes (i purchased 2, they were both the same). So it’s very easy to knock off the lid. It does contain a lot of the odor, though.

I like the red color and how it doesn’t take up much space. I need to keep rodents out of my garbage and this is perfect.

Very sturdy and the color looks amazing in my kitchen.

Great item, arrived earlier than expected.

This arrived today in a walmart box. Didn’t look reused but whatever. Lid is a little gimmicky but i really only cared about the color and i wasn’t disappointed. A nice deep rich red leaning towards burgundy. We’re using it outside on the new covered patio my husband just made us. Fits right in and feels like it’ll last nicely.

More durable than i expected.

Seville Classics 17-Gallon UltraHD Commercial Stainless Steel Trash Bin – The best trash bin ive had

My animals tend to knock my trash can over. They cannot knock this one down. You will have to get bigger trash bags with a larger opening but it’s worth it not having to spend my days cleaning up a dumped trash can. I use my old trash can for recyclables.

Update: 1 year later and we have purchased a second one for the officeexactly as advertised. Does not smudge easily and we opted to install it without the wheels. Has held up well in our busy office since we put it in about 6 months ago.

Yes, it looks like a miniature version of something you’d find at micky d’s. But it’s sturdy, holds a lot more than a 13 gallon can with a similar footprint, and is great for both regular trash and recycling (i bought two). With the old 13 gallon cans, my kids often shoved the swinging lids too far back and ended up getting trash on the floor (or the lids in the garbage). That doesn’t happen with this one, because there’s just one hole in front and no way for trash to leak out the sides or the back. While this was the primary reason i bought the can, i’m also enjoying an unexpected bonus. Instead of emptying cans 6-7 times/week, i’m only having to do it twice a week. So, even though the cost of the bags may be more ( i purchased some local 18 gallon compactor bags which fit well), i don’t have to use as many of them. I should have bought this years ago.

Very solid, really like this – and i even get a lot of compliments from houseguests (who compliments a trashcan?. Lol)only problem is that holes for screws in handles won’t take the screws they sent with it, so i can’t add the handles. I even took the handles and screws over to a carpenter friend and he said the plastic was drilled wrong and i should get different screws – too much bother, i’ll live without the handles.

Organize your recycle area with this near professional bucket. The metal is a bit thin so take it easy on the 3 point shots from across the kitchen. Also the screws that hold the handles on are a bit of a pain if you use a liner in the pail. Only use the correctly sized trash bags too (they are bigger than a tall kitchen bag and heavier too). All in all was a good buy that made recycling less messy. It does dent easily we had to send the first one back because it took a hit in shipping and could not be reformed.

I love that you can’t see right into it. I also like that if it is a bit too full, the top keeps it contained. It is sleek, and doesn’t look bulky in my kitchen. The outside has not been dented yet by my two crazy boys (2 and 6).

I really like this trash can. Goes well in my kitchen too. I like the idea trial look of this can with my country, shabby chic, rustic, mid century mod entire house decir. Maybe i should have just said eclectic. I am disabled so the casters help a lot too. You will like this trash can.

Clean lines and a sturdy plastic top make this a winner. Remember to buy 18 gallon trash compactor bags for this bad boy – the regular 13 gallon bags are just a bit too small.  ultrasac extra heavy duty professional quality compactor trash bag with antimicrobial odor control, 40 count.

 * sleek, clean, durable stainless steel, i got this garbage cans for two reasons. * the first, my husband’s dog is a garbage thief, a digger. *the second reason is because we swapped out our range and had a larger area to cover. * the product measurements are absolutely correct. * i thought it was the perfect opportunity to get double cans or an odd shape to enclose the area. * i looked at probably, over 100 garbage cans. * i never thought much about buying one before but there were soooo many considerations. It had to have at least some stainless steel to match my appliances.

This is the best kitchen waste can i have ever bought. I love every thing about it. The size is perfect, it’s easy to clean & it’s on wheels. So, even when it is full you can move it if you have to. I really like the user friendly open face top, which easily lifts off to empty, or to clean. I’ve had it a long time now & hope it lasts forever because i may never be able to find it again.

Super simple to put together. . Need phillips head screwdriver to attach the handles and it comes screw in legs or wheels. It is perfect for my needs in the kitchen. Bigger than a typical plastic kitchen can but not massive like an outdoor can. It’s tall, so if sliding under counter or something be sure to measure first. It’s just what i have been looking for for a long time.

We were looking for a kitchen trash can. It doesn’t seem like that big a problem but finding a quality, stainless steel, large, kitchen trash can turns out to be harder then it looks. Most are small, poorly made, very expensive, or have electronics or lids or other complexities that we don’t want to deal with every time we have to throw a piece of trash away. We have dogs and trash and a small kitchen. This trash can solved all our problems it holds a huge amount of trash (we use the large 33 gallon size), it has a front opening that we can just throw the trash at with one hand (usually hitting it the first time), it has wheels, it has a flat top that we use for extra storage space, and no odors or smells come up from it. The dogs can’t get into it and seem to totally ignore it and the stainless steel is very easy to keep clean. Now no trash can is perfect. There are screws holding it together inside and these have a tendency to catch on the trash bag when you go to remove it, especially if you keep stuffing more and more trash into the can instead of taking it out when you should. This can be solved by putting a small piece of duct tape over the screws or just not putting so much trash in the can at any one time. I would definitely buy this trash can again.

We removed a trash compactor installed in the island in our kitchen, and didn’t want another one. We added a cabinet door and didn’t install a toe kick, so this can fits perfectly (without the lid) and rolls in and out with no effort at all. The kirkland compactor bags work great with it, too. It comes without the handles or wheels put on, but the wheels just snap in (it also comes with little tiny legs you can install instead of wheels). The handles, though, were hard. We had to drill screws into them beforehand to prep the holes before we could then try it when attaching to can. Here are the specifications for the Seville Classics 17-Gallon UltraHD Commercial Stainless Steel Trash Bin:

    by entering your model number.

  • Easy to clean stainless steel body with removable durable resin top
  • Ideal for use in your garage, kitchen, warehouse, office , workspace or man cave

Large, sturdy, and on casters. Opening is big enough to fit a gallon milk container through if you crush it a bit. I love the casters and being able to move the unit with ease. The only negatives are finding the correct size trash bags (i found them on amazon), stretching the bags opening to fit over the sides (often times the bag tears at the top ) and the screws inside sometimes tear the bag during removal of the bag if over-stuffed. I have learned how to avoid or work around these issues easily. Overall i absolutely love this container.

I replaced my previous trash can because the bags were nearly impossible to remove once they were full. With this one, i can easily replace the bags even when they’re over filled. I followed the advice of some other reviewers and put duct tape over the screws on the inside to make sure the screws didn’t snag the bags. It might have been fine without the tape, but it couldn’t hurt. I also love that it rolls smoothly around my kitchen.

The wheels are very easy to install. I put two screws on opposite sides of the handle in the holes loosely. Then tightened them a bit and was able to slide the handle to get the other two holes to match up. Then i tightened all the screws. You will need your own phillips head screw driver for this. I am using it in my closet to store gift wrapping paper rolls upright.

Looked long and hard for a kitchen trash can this good – spent a fair amount of money on others along the way. Who ever made this is a genuis. If you don’t have a ‘trash drawer’ and want a larger trash in the kitchen than fits under the sink this is the way to go. We had constant tension in our house over the lid to the trash. I always wanted the trash covered (looks better, less smell, keeps the trash barrel from being overloaded, etc. ) my husband always hated the cover – no matter what kind we got, (swinging top, step-on raised top, etc. We’ve been in perfect harmony since this arrived a month ago. I was afraid the opening might not be quite large enough for getting the styrofoam bottoms of family sized meat packages and other messy things into – but so far no problems at all. The wheels are a great addition (now the trash barrel gets swept all the way around everytime the floor is swept and mopping the floor is easier too).

Love the size, wheels and the ease of the lid removal. Only drawback is we had to put tape on the inside lip to keep it from tearing the bag when taking it out. We also keep a second ‘liner’ bag in place. It can roll all around my kitchen with ease.

I really like the look, size & function of this trash can. It was easy to put together & i like being able to roll it around. However the wheels are a pain, they don’t stay screwed into place even after i re-tightened them it’s constantly un-level & wobbles. Can’t get all 4 wheels to touch the floor at the same time. Only have had it for a few weeks.

Reviews from purchasers :

  • How Did I Live Without This. Excellent Garbage Can. Convenient Handles. Rolls Smoothly. #Two of The Four Wheels “Lock”. #
  • Should have bought this years ago!!
  • Materials could be more robust but functions well.

I don’t think i have ever felt so ambivalent about a product. The casters are heavy duty and work great. But the metal portion is thin and cheap feeling and the resin top is somewhat thin and a bit warped looking. The handles are placed so low that i can’t imagine anyone actually using them. And apparently the screws needed to install the handles can cause the bag to rip. Despite all this, i give the trash can 4 stars because it functions so well. It easily glides with just a nudge. The opening is just the right size. And odors can be controlled by rinsing off cans, etc before throwing them in.

This is so much better than a garbage can with a closing lid. The access is large, yet still keeps what’s inside fairly well hidden. Seems funny to say about a garbage can, but we tried several in our kitchen. We like this for its capacity and ease of use. We left the wheels off to fit under the lip of our counter. It comes with little feet to use instead of the wheels if your prefer. The wheels would make it easy to use. Bottom line: good design, well made.

I wanted a fast food restaurant style trash can for my kitchen. I thought it would look cool. Wheels work perfectly and can lock so they don’t move. It is so much easier to just throw away the garbage in that hole. I also have the sensor type garbage can, which is cool too but i have to get close to the sensor for it too open. I put the sensor one in the basement.

I have three boys who need an easy to use trash receptacle. It is so much larger than the trash can built into my kitchen cabinetry. I am buying more to put in their bedrooms. The only complaint: the bag is hard to remove when completely full so do not use cheap trash bags. If you do, you will wind up with ripped bags.

If your not looking for any special trash bin that does special tricks that matches your stainless steal appliances, then this is the bin to get in my opinion. I wanted a trash can that i didn’t have to worry about failing after a short time with no moving parts and one that could truly fill a 30 gallon bag. Well i have found what i was looking for. This is a perfect match stainless steal wise and it looks good. The top comes off easily when time to take out the garbage and at the same time it holds the bag in place when perched on top of the can and the bag will not fall into the can even when its full. The hole on the lid is the perfect size. (you can even fit a milk jug threw it) this trash bin is light and easy to clean.

We have a big dog who is very well-behaved except for the occasional stray dog flashbacks where she raids the trash can. She can’t tip this one over because it rolls, and before we leave the house it’s easy to roll it into the bathroom to lock up. We’ve tried several allegedly dog-proof cans and this one although not perfect is the best so far. It takes larger trash bags than kitchen size, and we are finding we like not having to flip open a lid. I would definitely buy again.

It’s big enough to hold enough trash that my teenage boys can throw at it. The wheels were easy to put on but the handles were a little hard to get the screws to thread and attach. Since the trash bag covers it, i figured it wasn’t worth it.

Exceptional commercial style trash can for our kitchen. Easy to assemble and condenses garbage as opposed to our previous 13 gallon stainless trash can. Love the commercial lid design as compared to the noisy step open lid style. Plus it contains the odors and is convenient to remove for large waste disposal. The wheels make for ease of movement if you want trash can near you for messy projects. Best trash can i’ve ever owned.

Have been dealing with our dog getting into the garbage for 6 yrs. I kept it in the pantry but it never failed someone would forget to shut the pantry door and we would be cleaning up trash all over the house. Got this one just because our old one was getting gross and old, and low and behold i don’t have this problem anymore.I leave it out in the kitchen all day, i do think the wheels and the lid freak him out a little which is fine by me lol the only time he touches it is if it’s full and he can easily reach in to grab something. I think this was obviously a style for a shop or garage however if you have dogs this is a definitely huge help. It does have screws on the inside that will snag the bags as other people commented, i just took their advice and put a piece of electrical tape over each one. I wasn’t paid nor did i get a discount to write this review (i wish) :).

This just arrived yesterday and i cant believe how exited i was for a trashcan. The old one was only 11 gallons and easily filled up in a day or two. Plus, the lid to it somehow got lost (don’t ask me), so the dog was always pulling trash out of it. I looked at reviews online for a while and this one seemed to be exactly what we needed. Its 17 gallons so it will take a lot longer to fill up, and the dog cant pull things out now. I liked that it came with wheels and regular feet so you can decide which you want to use. A lot of people say it looks like a commercial trash can, but i personally like the way it looks. The trashcan is great, however, we bought this 3 days ago and paid 62 dollars, and now all of a sudden it’s 31 dollars with free shipping?. We’re pretty annoyed that we just payed double what they’re charging for it now.

Love this – none of that stupid top getting stuck or broken. This is open but keeps the smells contained. Very good quality, durable and actually looks nice.

I’ve actually received compliments on this trash can. People have actually asked me where i purchased this from. Gone are the days of the kids emptying their plates into the trash bin and somehow hurling their food onto the wall behind it; fast forward to the scene of me trying to scrub some crusty god-knows-what off of the wall days later. This baby is shiny, it has wheels and it has a lid, which i liken more to a hood. If this ain’t the best thing i’ve purchased in a great long while i don’t know what is. I feel compelled to buy five more, just in case there’s a run on them, but really just because.

It’s perfect for an average sized family’s kitchen, attractive, easy to change liners and clean, rolls (but can be locked in place), and you can set your recyclables on top. The only thing i didn’t like was trying to put the handles on (i’m old and the bolts were a bit difficult to thread) but you only have to do that once, and it’s an excellent price for an excellent product.

I needed a new garbage can for my kitchen and my criteria was something that was bigger than the average kitchen garbage can that could hold the 30 gallon trash bags, but was not thirty gallon in size. So, i moved up from my old rubber (bland looking) 10-13 gallon to this seville (modern looking) 17 gallon and it fit the bill and then some. I’ve always used the 30 gallon size bags because they hold more, but with the shorter cans the garbage tends to hang over and you only get 2/5ths of the bag full; not anymore. Also with the bigger can you don’t have to take the garbage out as frequent. That was another reason for my choice. It come with 2 sets of feet: (4wheels, or 4pegs); i chose to use the wheels to maneuver back and forth when dumping the smaller garbage cans from various rooms in my home into this larger one. Also the top of the garbage can has a tray area so that you can rest items on as needed when placing items into the disposal section. It really comes in handy when you have lots of food stuff from plates that need to be scraped off into the garbage.

These garbage cans are really nice. They have good casters and can be rolled around instead of lugged around. They have a top that comes on and off. I can’t think of a single thing wrong with the design of this garbage can. My wife originally bought these, and we have one inside for kitchen use and one outside to collect trash (we spend a lot of time outdoors). It seems to hold up to the summer heat of arizona (in shade) for a season so far, however, time will tell.

Solid, portable, looks good. The opening is large, easy to change out the bags. The space on top has come in handy when you need a 3rd hand. Totally happy w this purchase.

Why bother with a trash can with limited capacity and a bothersome mechanical lid?. This can is spacious, easy to remove the bag even when full, easy to dispose of large trash items. Bullet can i would have to remove the top in order to put boxes or bottles in because the swing door in the top was small. This can has a large opening that permits easy access for disposal of anything i choose to chuck in it. This is much bigger than cans that cost twice as much. By the way, a previous reviewer noted that this can does not have the smooth surface pictured, it does have raised ‘ribs’ as shown in one of the alternate photos on the listing. It’s still attractive and does the job.

It has met all my expectations. I highly recommend using a larger bag than the standard 13 gallon, tall kitchen trash bag. Whenever we tried that size it would split around the top and then be very hard to get out and tied up. We switched to the 30 gallon trash bags, which are actually less expensive than the ones we were using. The 30 gallon bag works marvelously. The extra space helps keep at bay the spill-over when removing the full bag from the can. Any remaining space can be packed with garbage on hand while the bag is being taken out to the outdoor curbside cans. I would highly recommend this can. I have had many people admire it and inquire about where i purchased it.

On wheels so easy to maneuver. Lid comes off easy to empty. One thing i like is there is an opening only on the one side (the side pictured) so i can throw trash in and hit the back of the can and the trash falls into the bag. Stupid yes but if there was a hole for depositing trash on both sides it would go through. Also easy to clean and excellent size. Build quality seems quite good. Had this trash can for many months now and no issues.

Worm Factory 360 WF360B Worm Composter : Works but too little scale of production

Update after 1 month:i just started my second tray less then a week ago – after 12 hours i already had worms climbing into the newest tray. I still have a ton of worms working on the bottom tray but it’s pretty neat to know they are thriving and looking for more food. I’m amazed at what they eat – i feel so much better knowing i’m not wasting food because a roll got moldy – ‘the worms will eat it’. Has become my mantra of late. The only thing i have been struggling with is keeping the top layer of newspaper moist. I think it has too many colored areas on the pages so isn’t retaining the moisture well. Eventually i’ll change it out for something 100% black & white but for now i soak it in water every couple of weeks. The worms don’t seem to mind. Update after 24 hours:the garage got rather cold as evening went on and more worms were escaping. It was probably about 45* in the garage and since it was a new bin there wasn’t any warmth inside the bedding and food pile.

My worm factory arrived in good shape and was not warped in any way. But did not come with instructions, guide, dvd, or ‘up to date content’ that were supposed to be included as pictured. We’ll see if it works the way it’s supposed to before i decide if it’s worth returning.

I was very pleased with the wealth of information provided with this worm bin. I was initially expecting to only get a simple worm bin with a few bedding materials and a few instructions on how to set it up. But instead it comes shipped with a full booklet on just about everything you need to know to get started in vermiculture. I appreciate the fact that these sellers are committed to the success of their customers by providing so much useful information. The booklet details how to troubleshoot and identify problems that may arise, how and what to feed your worms, how to properly maintain the bin over months, how to harvest the castings from the bin when it’s ready, anatomy and life cycle of worms, how to keep your worms happy, and so much more. Receiving this booklet was definitely a breath of fresh air compared to all the small sheets of papers i get with broken translated english printed on them. I also like how you get enough bedding to fill two trays so you will be set for several months before you need to go get some additional materials for bedding (if you don’t already have some). Currently, the worms have been quite happy in their new home (as far as i can tell). I’ve had the bin for about a month now and it has worked well for me. Obviously i will need more time to fully access this product, but so far, it’s been easy to use and useful.

(as the process continues, the review will update. )hi, i’m michelle, and i have worms. A few weeks ago i made the decision to give vermicomposting a try. I live in an area that supports recycling, but we still have to take the items there. The rest of the trash costs us per weight, and ends up decomposing in a way that is not healthy. Why not reduce the trips to recycling, the money spent having someone else take away the rest of it, and end up with healthy compost for our plants?. Hey, when it’s january and you live in one of the coldest states, you start thinking about gardening so that you don’t go all jack torrance. I read a lot on the topic, including a lot of advice on making my own bin. However, diy bins almost always involved work in getting your slimy friends to go to the other side of the bin. I decided to make the investment and buy a stackable unit, because they’re made and used in a way that the worms migrate up and leave the finished compost behind.

I ordered this bin along with 1,000 worms from uncle jims worm farm. I have been chopping up veggie scraps for the bin, and i freeze it for when i have time to get my hands dirty feeding the worms. I have already been able to harvest a full bin of soil to plant under my new raspberry plants. Kit came with detailed instructions and everything i needed to kick start the process and i still have left over minerals to keep going. I am a 3-6 year old director and plan to incorporate this process of composting in our class next year. We have compost bins now, but the raccoons and squirrels gnaw their way in and the bins and the bins create more of a feeding area for critters rather than a composting site. This is a much more wholistic way of composting food scraps. The process is very educational and the cycle of it all is rewarding.

This worm composter is really well designed. It is durable, easy to use, and comes with an excellent manual. I took a two day class on vermicomosting at the state university, and everything in that class was included in the handbook that comes with this worm factory. So you are going to be really well prepared and informed by reading the included book. I got my first batch of worms from growing power in milwaukee, wi. The worms were transported in their normal compost in a 5 gallon bucket, and they were only in transit for about 1 hour. The worms adapted to the composter very quickly and the short travel time made sure they were not traumatized. I am using two worm factories side-by-side so that i have enough composting capacity for my needs. I put my paper in a crosscut shredder first and then mix it with food and put it in the composter. I really like that the worm factory comes with probe thermometers so that you can monitor the internal composter temperature.

I’ve only had mine for about 2 months now, but it is working as described. I’ve gone to the site chat to ask questions and been answered well. The worms seem happy, the composting is going as described. Getting rid of sad & decrepit veggies & fruits, coffee grounds & egg shells, plus certain types of paper trash, too, for a beneficial reason instead of just throwing them away means i’m not totally throwing away or wasting money anymore and majorly cutting down on trash. Have found that cutting up the produce/paper into smaller bits really makes a difference, too. Did have an issue with the gnats & fruit flies, but after the first raking to mix everything up – this cut off the odors, too – it cut down on them considerably and the site gave recommendations on other remedies to help as well. Am now raking/mixing at least once a week. I’ll report back after 6 months or so – since there’s only 2 of us, the rack build up is probably slower than for a family, to let you know how it’s still going & if i’m still as enamored.

After reading an interesting article in the chicago tribune about worm composting i searched around for a worm composter. There were lots of choices out there, this is on the high end of a home composting system, it seemed very complete and i like to order via amazon. I ordered my worms at the same time. I like the multitiered system that allow the worms to progress at their pace. One thing that is not immediately evident is that it is not recommended to leave this unit outside in the elements – it must be out of the direct sun and not exposed to the rain. I set it up in my garage and plan to bring it to the basement in the winter. ) order the composter in advance of getting your worms and set it up per the directions. The worms respond better to the bedding if it has had a chance to ‘mature’ a bit.

Started my worm colony on feb 9, 2017. I acquired 1000 worms from uncle jim’s worm farm and so far i’m getting my first finished tray. My worm management isn’t the greatest as i’ve added more food to the first bin so their still working their way through the food on the first tray. I like the worm factory and the only complaint i may have is making it easier for the worms to migrate upward. You have to switch bins and make sure eggs and worms aren’t in the finished bin. If i could of down this over, i would of just gotten a flow through worm bin like the hungry bin worm farm. I see a lot of home made items on you tube but quite frankly that system looks far user friendly.

My worms are doing great and multiplying as well as tons of other bugs int he same bins. The whole idea of this kind of composting is designed for a very very little scale of gardening like in apartment, where you have only few plants to maintain. If you think you will get rid of your kitchen scraps-no, you will not, worms need so little food that all of your kitchen scraps will go to somewhere else (like in regular compost pile if you have one). With my little garden around the house this volume and speed of production is pretty useless. It could be more useful for seed starter boxes, but i am not doing it. I am thinking to get rid of it. Too much hustle for nothing. At this time i think i would rather spend money for heap of good mature manure, would be more efficient for plants.

The factory is great and the instructions very clear, but dear god make sure to read as many blogs as possible before your worms actually come. I made so many rookie mistakes with maintaining the farm. Maintaining the proper environment is extremely hard and unique to each persons waste and home environment. Also, when putting down the newspaper below the dirt on the bottom-most, do not. Do not scrap any of that newspaper away when you are digging in your dirt. I scrapped some of it off by accident and then my worms were escaping through that hole (that is almost impossible to repair once everything is going) for the next several months. They will try to escape at any opportunity.I might try some sort of mesh on the bottom layer next time.

These worm farms are great, we now have five of them. We put one of these under our under-performing starfruit tree and the next year the tree put out an extraordinary amount of fruit. The next year it’s even better. Worm castings are an all natural fertilizer. My gf is our worm farmer at our 5-acre farm in central florida. She feeds them a variety of cardboard (recycling) and rotting fruit that falls off the trees on our farm. We started with one farm and are now up to five of them. We’re putting a farm under every one of our fruit trees because the trees love the worm-castings so much. We only bought worms once for the first farm, when the first farm became fully populated by reproducing then we spread the worms among two additional farms. Soon all three farms were loaded with worms so we added two more farms.

I built my own worm composter a few years before getting this one, i almost lost my worms twice because of over feeding and heat in the summer. I love this one because it looks nice enough to keep in doors. It does take training your worms to come up each level and i found using one on the bottom with a lot of news paper works the best and then have one that has the main compost, that way the old stuff drops on there and collects any compost dropping down before getting into the water reservoir. It makes it easy to collect when it just drops down and keeps worms out of the water as well. They tend to go for a swim every now and then. It happened on my other one too. I honestly love it though and think every one should have one of there in their home. I may get another one later.

I don’t have previous experience with vermicomposting, but wanted to give it a try. After a week of operation, i am really impressed with this kit. The book that comes with it is excellent — it is well organized, attractively illustrated, and as far as i can tell thus far, it is really comprehensive. The kit comes with a dvd, but i didn’t find it particularly useful, especially when compared with the high caliber of the book. The dvd has poor image quality, many misspelled words occurring often enough to be distracting, and nowhere near the detail found in the book. The kit is complete (except for worms, which need to be ordered separately), the quality of all the materials appears to be excellent, and the instructions make it easy to get up and running quickly. The book is good because it not only provides what you need to get started now, but it goes into long-term management of the worm farm, ensuring a successful outcome down the road.

I’ve had my wf 360 for a couple of months now, and it’s great. My 4 year old loves feeding the worms, and i like just checking up on them every couple of days to see how they’re doing. I never really liked worms, can’t say i ever touched one until i bought this, they grossed me out. Now i like to hold them in my hands and pet them. After i have my morning coffee, they get the grounds, so we literally have coffee together. They are seriously like having a pet. It’s hard to describe, kind of weird, but they have become a part of the family. We put this in our laundry room, and yes it smells fine, no stench. If you follow the directions (and the direction booklet provided is very helpful and full of information, did you know worms had 5 hearts????), the compost will actually smell good. All of the materials included are easy to put together, and i’ve had no worms escape yet.

Living in alaska, i haven’t had much luck with heat composters breaking down my compost quickly. I’m excited to try the worm factory. The directions were easy to follow and included starter materials that made it convenient to set up. It arrived quickly and in good shape.

I’ve been using the worm factory 360 for almost 2 years now and i’m very pleased with this compost bin. I enjoy gardening, and one of the principles of organic gardening of which i was well aware, but had been resisting to implement, was composting. I thought it would be too much work, too much hassle. But now i’ve been doing this for a while, and it’s a really low maintenance operation. About once or twice a week, i’ll put food into the bin and water. I empty out the drained water on my garden plants. About every 6-8 weeks now i have to harvest the compost. This is the only part that takes work – you have to rotate the bins so the bottom one is on the top and then rake the compost a bit and wait a few hours for the worms to all migrate back down. Then you have to set up a new bin with new bedding material. The worm factory works very well, although when you look inside there are always going to be tiny mites crawling over everything and even tiny snails, which i seem to have been stuck with since day one.

Worm Factory 360 WF360B Worm Composter, Black : I’m a beginner at worm farming. Started this worm condo about a month ago in my garage in florida. I purchased worm castings before i decided to start the worm farm, and my plants loved the compost tea i made so much that i decided to start making my own. There were items missing from this kit. When i contacted the seller, i was told to send them an email with my mailing address, and they would immediately send them to me. I never heard back from them. I read a few other reviews that said the same thing. . That the seller ignored their emails about missing parts. I don’t think this product is any better than similar looking worm farms, so if you see another brand for less, it’s probably as good if not better than this one. This one just happens to be more expensive because of the manufacturer.

This is the best wormery i’ve had the pleasure of working with. I had another worm tower, but it was a few years old and needed replacing. I built one myself, and wasn’t thrilled with the results, since i move the wormery in and out of schools for my job. So i buckled down and bought the worm factory, and i’m pleased. It’s sturdy and the worms seem to love it, and overall easy to move around because the feet come off easily. Perfect for a garden educator like myself who travels around with worms from time to time.

I have now had my worm factory for about a year, and absolutely love it. When taken care of appropriately, your little worms will turn junk mail and kitchen scraps into a luscious potting soil. Nothing makes me smile as much as shredding junk mail and feeding it to my little worm buddies. 🙂 ok, well, shredding the old, paid bills makes me smile more. As long as you keep the ratio of food vs. Paper in balance, there is no discernible odor. If you notice it has a slightly funky scent in that corner of the kitchen, go take a peek and see if you have been putting too much of one or the other item in there. I have gotten carried away with veggie scraps and had the balance tip a bit too far – and yes, it will begin to smell funny. Not garbage smell, but a funky kinda stale-beer-smell. My houseplants have absolutely love the worm dirt produced.

Are you like me who tried to compost your kitchen scraps the old fashion way which causes fruit flies, a deathly stench and last but not least gets frozen in the winter then this vermicomposting is the one for you. Well at least it’s the right match for me and my family. Purchased the worm factory on may 9th and it arrived on may 12th. I ordered 2000 red wrigglers from www. 95 on the same day the worm factory was purchased. The worms arrived 2 days after the worm factory was delivered. The worm factory comes with an instructional manual and dvd, a bottle of mineral rock dust, shredded card board, a small ziplock bag of coir, small ziplock bag of pumice, 4 trays and a kit (rake, scraper and a thermometer). It was easy to set up the first worm bin because the instructional manual was written in simple layman’s terms and step by step instructions. You only need to line the first worm bin with damp not dripping wet newspaper. The additional food trays added does not need to be lined. I am 2 weeks into setting up the worm factory and i am thrilled. The first tray is almost broken down completely only a few scraps of food remains which i didn’t cut up small enough and as a result they still need to be broken down more. I just added a 2nd food tray last week and used the rest of the coir, pumice, added damp shredded newspaper and some of the castings from the first tray and it was a success.

Started using this composter last spring and all through the summer. It has a huge capacity with the expandable bins (comes with plenty for a family of 4, and you can buy extras if you generate a lot of compost). The system is super easy to set up and even easier to maintain. It has a collection tray and spicket so you can collect the liquid run off – great for plant fertilizer (although they say you shouldn’t use that liquid as fertilizer for any veggies or plants that you will eventually eat – house plants only). System comes with everything you need to get started (minus the compost food and newspaper). Once it’s up and running theres not too much you need to do – it’s a self sustaining eco system. Just add foodit comes with a dvd and booklet with information on how to get started and keep it going. You do need to maintain the right balance of ‘greens’ (compost food) and ‘browns’ (things like cardboard and shredded newspaper/mail). But it’s easy to figure out: too dry, add more greens – too wet, add more browns. You can compost most organic material that isn’t cooked. No meat products, dairy, or citrus. Chop up onions and garlic – add the shells. Banana peels, apple cores, egg shells, coffee grounds, tea bags. It cuts down on the amount of garbage thats in your kitchen, and the garbage that’s left doesn’t have any smell because theres nothing organic thats rotting in it. Plus it makes great fertilizer if you grow your own veggies (use the compost, not the liquid run off). Unfortunately i did not have a place to keep this in the winter so needed to stop using through the cold. Next spring though all i need to do is add more worms and it’ll be ready to go. Great for novices and advanced composters alike.

I have had this worm factory for two weeks now and love it. I put 1200 worms in it that i also ordered from amazon and they are chowing away, making me mulch. This device came with very clear written instructions plus a video on how to set this up and i followed the directions and have had no issues whatsoever. This sits in my foyer and no one knows it’s a worm farm, until i show them – no smell, no mess. The worms seems super-happy and i am using up all my vegetable left-overs, rather than putting them in the landfill, and in return, i’m getting some awesome-looking ‘black gold’ mulch – can’t wait to use it in my garden. This is very easy to do, very low maintenance and i feel i am contributing to the environment in a small, but positive way.

I wasn’t sold on the idea when my wife said she wanted to start raising worms in the garage. But now, i love it (not touching them–that’s her job). As a writer, there is something immensely therapeutic about feeding the torn up drafts of your writing to a box of warms in the garage. And knowing that in a few months it will be soil that feeds the yard that you can walk in in bare feet. As a person, there is something satisfying about putting your food waste to good us. In our case, the worms have also presented an interesting food hierarchy. We, the humans eat what we want from the fridge. The waste, leftovers and scraps then go to our pet goats–who are surprisingly picky. What they don’t want goes to the chickens.

I had a home made worm farm and it worked but it was hard to keep the moisture at the required level. I ordered the worm factory 360 wf360b worm composter in black and it arrived in a couple of days – very prompt delivery. It took a few minutes to get it unpacked and set up. A few more minutes and i had my worms transferred from the home built to their new home and they were ready to start eating. It has been several months and the first bin is about full – time to add another layer. I read the other reviews and have an observation:some said the worm ladder or top were missing – mine were exactly where they were supposed to be – upside down in the bottom of the stand. I suspect some people didn’t check where the directions said they would be. I have my worm factory in a greenhouse where i can control the temperature – especially in winter when they need protection from freezing. Summer provides a little more of a challenge but i can still keep the unit below 80 so the worms are doing fine and consuming all of my shredded mail and garden waste.

For a new worm farmer – i definitely recommend paying the extra money to get the ‘accessories’ that are in this kit. I have a feeling that i’ll be eventually making my own bins – but for now i’m enjoying the process of falling in love with worms that this handy kit encourages. Right now it’s in our home (it’s winter) and i love the handy way of feeding them. They are so quiet, and low maintenance. A great thing for kids, even though i have none – i would definitely get this if i had kids, to teach them about taking care of our world. . Did you know that this world would have a critical garbage problem, and depleted soil issues, if it wasn’t for the tiniest of creatures such as worms?. One single worm can process 10 pounds of material every year – transforming garbage into something useful and nutritious. What’s very interesting along these lines, is that what goes into a worm, and then comes out the other end, are two different things.

It was my best ever mother’s day gift. We started with a half pound of worms locally and still are on the first bin. Our food waste is next to nonexistent – and that makes us happy since our city does not collect compostables. Setup is a breeze because everything is included. I wish i had bought more worms to start, but i think the local worm farm wanted me to to get the bin environment going before adding too many worms. The worms are happily multiplying and we have many babies and cocoonsi’ve had no trouble with flies or other pests. If you are having trouble, your bin is either too wet or you are feeding too much. Cover your bin with a few pages of newspaper and a couple inches of shredded paper and cardboard.

I bought this in november and it worked fine then i added another tray and it still work fine. Description says it can hold up to eight trays i have 6 trays on it – added gradually- and it worked fine for a short amount of time and then a bottom leg bent. I would like to get a replacement bottom – hopefully the company would take this one back but i don’t see any way to contact the company so i’m using the comment section hoping they see it. I live outside chicago and luckily we have some warm weather now so i can put the trays outside but that won’t last long. I don’t know why they say you can add 8 trays when six of them bent the bottom leg. So if you see this from the company please contact me. I would be glad to change this to a four star if i could get some assistance here.

I bought this item along with 2 pounds of red wigglers to start off my vermicomposting experiment. I followed the instructions exactly, even watching the included video. It is winter here in the midwest so i decided to keep the bin under a heating vent in my kitchen. While i did have a slight ammonia smell in the first two weeks, the problem was eliminated by simply adding more shredded paper. There has been no smell emanating from the unit since, even stooped over the bin i am unable to smell anything. Per the instructions i have not placed any dairy, meat or acidic fruits in the bin, and i have yet to see any insects anywhere. Maybe this is just because it is still relatively cold outside, but currently there are none. The worms have been steadily moving towards the top bin, and are currently migrating into a third bin after 5 weeks. I could be crazy, but they seem obviously annoyed when you crack the trays apart to investigate; they really do not like light. Overall the worms seem happy, my trash is being diverted from a landfill, and i will eventually stop paying (as much) money to a nursery for worm castings.

I’m a huge fan of the worm factory products. I own three bins, one is the original and two are the 360. While the 360 has a few silly whistles & bells that the original didn’t include (instructional dvd, a plastic rake my 3-year-old loves, a black thing called a ‘sprinkler’ that i haven’t figured out yet) it is worth the small additional investment for a few reasons:1. The 360 maxes out at eight trays because of its sturdier base. If you plan to grow your colony this is important. The lid on the 360 fits more securely and can hold trays while you are harvesting. I bought a meat thermometer for use with my original worm factory, then found the 360 comes with one. Very handy when one of your trays is overheating. They send you a generous quantity of pumice with the 360. This is great to sprinkle in the trays for moisture control and airflow. The spigot on the original isn’t slanted down like this one, so it’s tough to drain the leachate completely from the collection tray. The bottom tray sits up on risers to allow airflow in the leachate bin. This is a huge improvement over the original, where i had major issues with product quality once i reached maximum tray capacity.

Update: 5/23/15i have had this thing for 6 months now. I purchased 500 worms right after receiving. Half the worms died within a couple of days. Thinking the cold weather and slightly delayed shipping killed them. Uncle jim stated his company guaranteed quick shipment and live. When i contacted they just blew me off with excuses. The remaining worms slowly multiplied. I should have purchased local and started with 1000 worms. I have been feeding regularly with slightly aged veggie scraps and some newspaper. I added my second bin 2 months ago.

Had neglected to order worms so had to wait to try it out. Has been working just fine and i have been able to add trays and keep them full and the worms are quite productive and eat like horses. We have it out on the back porch under the eaves and discovered one morning that the raccoons had discovered it so now it is ‘locked’ every night with bungee cords. Despite the raccoon raid, the worms are still there and must have run for cover in time to avoid being eaten. All in all, a fun and productive way to handle kitchen garbage.

So far, the worms are absolutely thrilled with their new abode. It’s built well considering how lightweight it is. That’s a bonus for me as heavy lifting is not my favorite sport. The directions are permanently attached to the lid, which is great for those of us who need reminders on worm bin maintenance. The only insecurity that i have is the amount of food to give the worms. Some sources say 1/2 pound of food per day for 1 pound of worms, some say 1 pound of food per day, so i’m splitting it down the middle and giving them 3/4 pound a day. The bottom bin was filled to the top with food and dirt while we were on vacation (enthusiastic grandkids) so i added another bin and the worms instantly migrated to the second bin. I’m encouraged that i will have worm castings way sooner than expected.

There are things i like about this composter, but i really think they should try to redesign it so that it’s enclosed. It’s advertised as something you can keep in the house, but the fruit fly problem is an issue. I do have a solution for the fruit flies – i have modified a recipe for a fruitfly trap i got from friends a few years ago. I place a small jar containing a little balsamic vinegar diluted in white vinegar plus a couple of drops of dish soap in the corner of the top tray. I just wish it wasn’t necessary. I still have to be mindful of the fruit flies when i open the lid to put something in the bin, which doesn’t make it as useful as i’d like. I just don’t have thousands of fruit flies all over my kitchen anymore.

I received my worm factory today and it is just as advertized. The little booklet is very clear and detailed. I recommend getting the set with the booklet and the materials for getting your worm farm off to a good start. I think the pumice and rock dust are a great addition. Very necessary for the health of the worms. There was a glitch with my first order. I never recieved it and had to order another. I wasn’t happy about this, but amazon kept me informed and recommend a reorder and refund of the first worm factory 360. The squirm firm was easy to work with and let me know to contact amazon and informed me how to care for my worms until the replacement worm factory arrived.

Boardwalk 41QTWBBLA Soft-Sided Wastebasket : this was PERFECT in size and construction

Too tall to fit under my sink but other than that it’s as expected, a durable trash can.

Not as thick-robust as my original can, but it fits in the existing cabinet bin perfectly.

Works very well for our recyclables.

My company gives ofgice staff these tiny itty bitty trash cans, i make a lot of mistakes so i need a really big ass can to hide my mistakes, this was perfect in size and construction.

Very well made trash can, very sturdy and at great price, highly recommend.

Exactly what i was looking for.

Hard to give a five star review on a trashcan.

It’s a garbage can, what else can i say?.

  • this was PERFECT in size and construction
  • Perfect for camper
  • Great for recycling or paper waste

Boardwalk 41QTWBBLA Soft-Sided Wastebasket, 41 qt, Plastic, Black

Son needed for college great price worked out great with quick delivery.

Just what i needed could the perfect size to use for my recyclables.

It’s fine for keeping my dirty laundry in.

A big basket in which i throw old cans.

Kind of rubbery to the touch.

It’s perfect looks just like the picture.

It is bigger than i thought. Everything is good except its price.

It’s a big sturdy garbage pail. It does what a garbage pail should.

It is a trash can, it holds trash. I took off one star as the can is a bit lightweight. I wouldn’t put anything heavy or sharp in it. As a side note, and not reflected in rating, the third party vendor, universaldealsinc, makes you pay for shipping on returns.

Way to kill the environment.

This is exactly what it is described to be.

Light weight, tall and narrow.

Good unless a bag is needed –- fits loosely (unlike rubbermaid) and there are supports in the bottom that may puncture it (see ‘customer images’).

Bigger than i thought it would be.

Good trash can for the money. A lot larger than i thought. My son thinks it will be ok for his dorm room.

Sturdy ‘tal kitchen bag’ size wastebaskets that work great in my office and shop.

One of the bin, good, reasonable price and free shipping, must have it in my kitchen.

Excellent item, quick delivery.

Wakeman Portable Trash Bag Holder- Collapsible Trashcan : What ever happened to quality control?

I’ve actually been using this inside as a recycle bin. Nothing wrong with it except trying to get a full bag out means i’ve gotta take the front bar off. Not really meant for indoors anyway, so i can’t really complain.

Not as sturdy as i would have liked, but once there are some items (empty cans/bottles or garbage) in the attached garbage bags, they become more stable.

I liked this, and we used it for a recent outdoor party we had. The only thing i didn’t know was the green color would say ‘recycles’ on the lid. I thought i had a choice of blue or green, and i liked green. It didn’t say there was a label on top of lid saying which is for which. Description of the item needs improvement.

I had some difficulty getting the holder to stay together but after that works well. I did have a problem getting the bag out of the holder after it was full. There is an inner rim that holds the bag in place and sometimes that comes up with the lid. It’s made of pvc so is light weight and sturdy enough for recycling plastic bottles.

It seems like cheap plastic, but it holds the garbage bag well. We have it in our garage for parties and such. We even shut the garage door on it by accident. It broke of course, but we are still able to use it and it still holds the bag well. For that reason, i give it 5 stars.

I really like the product and works very well. I have put it in my kitchen for recycle garbage, so it is not mobile. Although we can fold the product, it takes time to assemble or dismantle the product. So, if you want to use it for picnic, you would need extra about 4-5 mins.

Loved it for my recycling bottles. It was easy to put together no need for tools. The holder stands straight and with good weight that it does not tip over during strong winds and rain. Plan to buy another one for my paper produces.

Works great, but you have to be careful putting the pieces together. They break if you insert them in the wrong end, but there is no way to tell which end is the wrong end until you try them. If you notice they are tight, try the other side.

Helps keep the campsite organized and packs down well to not take up too much space. Love the color options to differentiate.

Works as expected, except for the ‘frame’ that is supposed to hold the bag in place. It lifts along with the lid causing the bag to drop. I used an extra-large binder clip to hold the frame in place and now it’s fine. Knowing this easy fix, i would purchase again if needed.

I bought 2 of these for our annual 4th of july party and they worked out great. They are made out thin plastic so not very sturdy but they did the job of what we needed them for.

You really have 3 size/height options here. In the smallest, with one pole height, it fits a plastic grocery sack perfectly, 2 pole height works so great for wet laundry bags for cloth diapering. It disassembles and packs up nearly for travel, which i’ve done twice already. It’s nice to be able to bring my cloth diapers supplies on vacation to family house for 2 weeks, without looking like a crazy person bringing my own giant trash can lol. I also have one in the kitchen under the sink, and will be ordering far least one more for the recycle. I just love the adjustable size, you don’t get the with any other trash/recycle/or laundry hampers.

Bought for camping and really liked it. Love the lid as it keeps the bugs at bay. The only negative i have about it is that the tall kitchen bags do fit it but once they have any weight they pull off. I had to put an upside down pot under the bag to support the bag. I will in the future have full size trash bags to use with it.

I like these (have 2), but the best idea is to glue the parts permanently or it’s a hassle. One mistake is i glued the base upside down, which prevents the base of the bag to be supported. Be aware that the heavier the bag, the more likely the bag will be pulled off the retaining ring. High wind will blow them over too.

The idea behind this trash bag holder is great – but it is really flimsy, and the wind knocks it over very easily. I have since bought metal rods/stakes to hammer into the ground and then slide the poles over it. (i think next time i won’t put the base on at all – that just collects water and dirt when it rains, and with my stakes it doesn’t need it). This works pretty good – or at least it didn’t fall over in the last rain storm. I also need to either find taller bags or only use 2/3 the height of the legs, because the bags can fall out if it get too heavy.

We had a bag hanging fro a ail on the porch for can recycling. So i wanted something covered. This does the trick but it’s rather narrow profile only allows for about half the tall kitchen bag to get full. Wish it were just a big bigger in diameter to accommodate a full bag of beer and pop cans. But that said, it does keep the bees out.

Just what you need to bag returns in oregon since you can’t crush the cans to return.

Wakeman Portable Trash Bag Holder- Collapsible Trashcan for Garbage and Indoor/Outdoor Use Outdoors -Ideal for Camping Recycling and More (Blue) : Good for poop duty in the back yard. Better then just carrying around a bag. This thing adds structure and strength to get the job done.

Perfect for putting 5cent returns in to bring the cans back. We use one for cans and one for bottles.

Buy the other one for $4 more; you’ll be happier. You’ll need a bad to carry the pieces of this one in, whereas the other one stores within itself. I bought both to compare and gave this one away.

Chef’s Star Stainless Steel Compost Bin 1 Gallon : Hide yo scraps, hide yo peels

Very high quality stainless steel compost pail. The gallon size is just enough space for a couple of days. The lid has multiple filters in it and there are replacement filters included in the box. I would say it is more a ‘lifetime’ product than a throwaway in two or three years type product.

So you’ve got flies and dog feces smell. You searched for bug zappers and found they’re great for mosquitoes, but the flies bask in the light, dancing and laughing in your face. Your wife says you can’t dispose of the dogs and you love them anyway, so it was really just a joke. You’ve come to terms with the fact that you’re just gonna have to actually be proactive about picking up after your dogs. Now you’re asking what in the h-e-double-hockey-sticks am i gonna use?. You don’t wanna walk a pile to the dumpster every single time, and you don’t want a 13 gallon bag full of poop that starts to breed even more flies and stench. So here it is, i promise you. The can for human and dog backyard harmony. This holds standard plastic grocery bags so you can reuse them for a good purpose. The dirt and leaves scooped up with the poo create nice little bio-bombs so i feel like it’ll eventually make up for that plastic you’re throwing out.

Chef’s Star Stainless Steel Compost Bin 1 Gallon

  • Make sure this fits
    by entering your model number.
  • CONTROL ALL ODORS: With the airtight lid and replaceable activated-charcoal filter working together, they trap and control odors naturally. This makes it so your kitchen compost bin can just sit right on your countertop or wherever you need it. Say goodbye to the smell!
  • TRUE QUALITY: The stainless steel bin is molded in one piece. This prevents rust and leaks. Many other bins are welded, and prone to rust and leakage at the weld points as time goes on. No need to worry about nasty bacteria while handling your bin.
  • PLACE IT ANYWHERE: The bin is 1 gallon in size. This is easily big enough to hold several days worth of your compostable organic kitchen waste. This includes vegetable peels, eggshells, fruits, coffee grounds, and much more. It is still small enough to fit on countertops, without looking out of place.
  • DURABLE STAINLESS STEEL CONSTRUCTION: Made of premium, rust-resistant 304 grade stainless steel. Your bin Won’t scratch, crack, or chip. It will also never leach any toxic chemicals into your compost.
  • REPLACEABLE CHARCOAL FILTER INCLUDED: Your bin comes complete with a specially designed activated-charcoal filter. This is the key to an odorless indoor compost bin. Just like your bin, the filter can be cleaned with soap and water. It Will easily last more than 6 months with careful handling.

Had it two weeks and it works perfectly. Easy to take off lid with one hand and put scraps in with the other, my average household fills it up in about a week. The hardest part is trudging through 3 ft. Of snow to get to compost pile.

I’ve had this compost bin for just over a year now. I really like it, however it is showing signs of rust. I just take a scrubber and most of them come off, but now there’s a dime-size rust spot that can’t be removed. I keep this in the kitchen, but it’s far from the sink. So i don’t know how to prevent it from rusting more.

I am brand new to composting. I started out with a coffee can for my kitchen scraps which you learn in a hurry just isn’t going to cut it long term. I ordered this and it arrived quickly. It’s ready to go out of the box, which includes an extra filter. The build quality is excellent and it looks good, too. I have no room under counter to store this pail so it sits top-side. I’ve now had it long enough to make my first deposit in the compost pile. The only time i smell the muck inside is when i put more scraps in. The lid comes off easily and its wide enough to scrape into without any of the scraps falling outside the pail. The lid doesn’t lock but the pail is such that it won’t tip on its own.

Chef’s Star Stainless Steel Compost Bin 1 Gallon : I like everything about this compost bin. It is good and sturdy and has a large capacity. The handle is strong and the filters are relatively easy to swap out. It is just what i needed to collect the vegetable scraps and eggshells, and there is no smell.

This has holes in the lid and a built in filter under the holes so you don’t smell your kitchen scraps. The perfect size to collect your daily composting in the kitchen until you empty it outside.

This is exactly what i was looking for. We use it to collect compostable waste in the kitchen to transport to the composter out back. The size is perfect to collect material for a few days before transporting it out to the composter. This reduces the trips out nicely. The filter lid is a nice touch and does the job. We have this can under the kitchen sink so it is closed up in the cabinet. I have not smelled any hint of the waste under the sink except when i open the lid. The finish and style is nice enough to use counter top but that is not what we had in mind.

This product is really a must for anyone who dislikes throwing away food. Plus, my garden has benefited from coffee grounds, egg shells, banana peels, vegetable waste, etc. I always feel so good when i see how healthy my plants are from the addition of organic material from my kitchen. I have two of these pails–one at my lake home and one in my city home. Both of them are put to good use because i cook a variety of vegetables and love coffee. I’ve actually rooted squash varieties, potatoes, and other plants from my compost pails. Fruit peels and egg shells are also so good for roses.

I’ve had this for over a year. I love that it doesn’t smell and it’s very easy to clean. I throw mine in the dishwasher. Because its odder less i keep it near my sink and use it daily. Other products i’ve tried eventually smell so i put them someplace less noticeable and thus used them less frequently. I also love the look as it matches my appliances which is nice when i leave it sitting out.

Love, love, love this counter-top compost bin. I bought it to replace a ceramic composter which broke, cracked—not practical. But this one is stainless steel. It blends in well with my other ss appliances in my kitchen. Looks great on my counter top and holds lots more than my old one. Fewer trips to the compost pile outside to empty it. Also, the carbon filters eliminate any odors.

This is a great way to collect compost in the kitchen. Perfect size, keeps smells at bay easy lid to remove. I keep it both on my counter and under the sink. A practical gift from my husband i didn’t mind receiving for christmas.

An attractive way to deal with compostable materials in the kitchen. Really does eliminate any smells. I love that you can lift the lid with one hand as i usually don’t have two free hands while cooking.

Not exactly what i had in mind, i guess i was expecting it to be something different. You must empty this everyday. It’s a cute place to put your compost while you are cooking but honestly you could just use a bowl and dump it after your done and have the same effect achieved. The reason you have to dump it every day and not wait is because the gnats and ants waste no time feasting on your gift to them. It is not sealed so tight that they can’t get in. So, really having the charcoal scent remover is nice, but not neccessary bc you need to empty it right away anyways. Perhaps in the winter time you wouldn’t have the bug issue so bad?. I’d rather not attract bugs, it just wasn’t something i thought of when i purchased it, i thought hey this will save me a trip to the compost every night, and maybe i can go every 2 or 3 nights. Wrong don’t do it, i tried and then freaked out when i opened it and there were gnats and ants in there 🙁 i battle ants in my house anyways so perhaps that is not all the compost bins fault lol but, i definitely don’t need to give those pests another source to come after.

Beautiful container for countertop compost storage. We had fruit flies when we used the charcoal filters that came with the bin. Once we put a little duct tape on the inside of the lid to stop air/fly flow through the holes, we’ve not had an issue. We can go 4-5 days before emptying this and get zero odor. I know we’re not using it as advertised anymore (not promoting air/fly flow), but we’re very happy with it and recommend it.

This compost can is better than expected. It comes with spare filters and closes nicely. I keep mine in the frig between dumping.

After years of using repurposed plastic or metal containers, this bin has made our lives so much easier when it comes to composting. The satin steel finish blends nicely with all my kitchen fixtures, and the filtered top seals in all smells. I can even easily wash the entire unit (after removing the carbon lid filters). And, instead of buying expensive replacement carbon filters, i make by own by the dozen just by cutting to fit a carbon pre-filter (honeywell c-6005, 38002 enviracare universal replacement pre-filter made by all-filters, inc. In this way i can inexpensively change the lid’s carbon filter to ensure odor-free composting whenever needed.

+ looks nice+ keeps the smell out really well+ much sturdier than the plastic ones- lid is a little snug so you can’t open one handed. This will probably get better with time. Updateall the above positives still hold. The lid comes off a bit easier. One negative that i have found is that a lot of moisture builds up inside. The filter at the top doesn’t allow for much of the humidity to escape and the result is that the bio-bags start to break down pretty quickly. I’m sure there is a trade off between how smelly and humid it is. It still works great and is worth it, but just a heads up.

About 4 weeks into my ownership. The stainless steel pail improves the looks of our kitchen counter quite a bit2. The depth of the pail allows throwing cut-offs from a distance without bouncing back out3. The size is sufficient, even for a vegetarian4. The odor suppressing charcoal filter works like a charm. I cook with garlic, onions, mushrooms, and tons of herbs and the house smells much better since i have this fancy compost bucket. Straight walls allow quick disposal and easy rinsingnot 5 stars because i believe a compost bucket should be made from recycled materials and i know that i am getting spoiled by the charcoal filter and that i will buy the replacement filter when need arises.

I keep it by my sink and can keep adding to it for about a four days before it starts to smell. I like the unassuming style as well. I even put a used dryer sheet with some essential oils in with the filter, and that helps to stretch its use for a few more days. I love the idea of composting, but am nauseated by the process- this is a great compromise.

Looks as described and is solid. Stores a good amount and is quite attractive on my counter. The reason i took off one star is because gnats can get in to the container. Luckily i visit my composter often enough to not have anything ‘wriggly’ develop in my bin but there is nothing more disturbing than opening up the can and gnats flying out. Never happened when i used my old 5 gallon mayonnaise jar with lid. I wanted something that did not display the refuse and that is what prompted this purchase.

Holds a few days worth of garden scraps, eliminating the need to walk to the big bins in the garden. Stainless steel blends into the kitchen, making it somewhat attractive. Shocked and amazed at the lack of smells when the lid is closed. Filling it up with scraps, i do catch an occasional whiff of leftover vegetables/fruit/eggs/coffee grounds getting ripe, but it’s a small price to pay to not have to walk to the back of our property on a nightly basis to fill the compost up. I would say this is an absolute must for anyone who gardens and composts. They do make compost friendly bags for the inside that i haven’t used but i would imagine would make clean up and smell control easier. Will probably give them a try soon just to see if it makes a difference.

Mind Reader Mini Counterop Trash Can – I’m using it on my desk in my home office

This mini counter top trash can is pretty cute and is actually functional. The lid is easy to push to put things inside and small grocery bags work great for liners since it is so small.

Super cute mini counter top trash can that is perfect to toss empty sugar packets at a coffee station, straw wrappers at a soda fountain, or just for desktop storage. The lid slides off so you can add a mini trash bag. I ended up using it to toss my stevia packets in at my coffee station. My husband consistently complains about the packets i leave behind after i make my giant iced coffee in the morning (typically i leave it on the dish that holds the spoon)- this was a quick, clean, and easy solution he does not mind.

It can use gallon size baggies to line it with, and they are a bit large. It is perfect to keep under my outside grill to put american cheese cheese wrappers in as i cook. It is stainless steel and it looks a bit medical. It would be great for holding straw papers on a counter top too. 2 points off though for sharp edges. While i’m not finding it sharp enough to cut, it is too sharp for people who have thin skin or for people on blood thinners. It would be so much nicer if the edges were finished properly by being rolled. Instead they cut the pieces out and didn’t seam to do anything else to blunt them. It is cute, but i would not recommend it for any commercial use or in homes with the elderly or anyone else who might have thin skin. Here are the specifications for the Mind Reader Mini Counterop Trash Can:

  • Make sure this fits
    by entering your model number.
  • Stainless steel construction, elegant satin finish trash can with swing lid
  • Great for Breakroom, home, office even bathrooms
  • Helps keep your Coffee Station clean and organized
  • Holds most trash including stirrers, sugar packs, Coffee grounds, even Coffee pods
  • Easy to clean and built to last with attention to detail and superior materials
  • Compact size will save space on your desk

I run a retreat with a busy coffee/tea table (typically 30-36 guests at a time) and this is great tabletop bin for packet wrappers. It will hold a busy day’s wrappers & tea bags (though most guests leave those in their cups; and we use a sugar bowl, so wrappers are from artifician sweetener and individually-wrapped tea bags). It would also be suitable for home use by a few keurig users (my mom uses a keurig and always seems to have stray pods and stevia packets on her counter in the morning, which makes me bonkers), but the size woukd be inadequate for more than a few coffee drinkers. The main can (without lid) is about the size of a large can of tomatoes (not the 15-oz can; the 32-or-whatever-it-is size); the swing top lid ads several inches and will hold more, but that makes emptying clumsier. The only think i don’t like is that the edge of the flap is a tittle untidy; it coukd be sleeker, but for the price, it’s good. Not sure why it’s ‘desktop’–seems more a breakroom than personal item. It wouls also be handy for taster spoons at a farmer’s market or convention, makeup sample spatulas/cotton balls, etc.

This is a spiffy little can that looks really nice sitting on a desk or counter. As long as you can keep fingerprints off of it. For me, it got set next to my pod coffee machine, as a place to drop the pods after use. This works out reasonably well, with two caveats: (1) it’s difficult to sort out a trash liner, so damp objects like the pods will drip and leave residue, and (2) its size is such that it honestly doesn’t have great capacity (at least for pods). These two little complications means, for me, that it might not stay next to the coffee pot for long, and it will have to live on my computer desk, a bin for crumbled up postit notes and candy wrappers.

Reviews from purchasers :

  • can’t get the top off
  • Cool design but too short
  • good looking can (that’s what she said)

At only about 6 inches tall i’m not sure how much use this really is. I guess you can put small bits of paper like old receipts or candy wrappers in there. The edges on top aren’t machined all that well so they’re almost sharp.

It is exactly what it says it is. It is a miniature garbage can, in my case, stainless steel. It is intended for use in small work areas, perhaps a craft or kitchen area, where you end up with lots of scraps. The can is constructed very well and the lid comes off.

Holds trash like a can should. To empty it, i just squeeze the round shape until the lid comes out. May recommend some pads on the bottom surface so that the metal doesn’t scratch/rub against whatever surface you put it on.

I’m using it on my desk in my home office to throw out post-its. The black part has a glossy finish. I think it’s cute and functional.

That said it is not very functionable as there is nothing i can find to line it for teabags or k cups that have water leaking from them so a liner is a must and the edges (*if you can get the top off) are very, very sharp. This could have been so perfect if they just addressed these 2 issues.

I love this little trash can. It is small but it’s perfect for trash by my sink. I put compost stuff in there and small/wet things. The lid comes off easy for easy cleaning. I put a small plastic bag in there and take it out and throw stuff away.

Swell little can for tabletop trash. Lots of compliments, good looking can (that’s what she said).

I got this for my husbands work space and he loves it. It is bigger than i thought it was going to be, but it also fits more than i thought it was going to. The top swivels just like a regular trash can and the aluminum design makes it look very sleek. I really like it and would highly recommend.

Like 1 banana peel and a tissue small. I also find this kind of metal very hard to clean and it gets fingerprints very easily. If the size meets your need, it’s durable and the lid closes well enough to keep my lunch food smells contained while i work at my desk.

Wish this was a little taller. The way the lid is designed it doesn’t allow for a lot of trash to be placed in it.

This is a simple and basic brushed stainless steel can. I say basic because the lid around the opening is simply cut metal. While it is smoothed out, there are no rounded edges around the inner lip of the can. I imagine that is to maintain a streamlined look. The lid is simply welded on and is level. As for size, even among desktop cans, this is petite, but its functional. It is about the size of my hand – perfect for my desk. I feel like it would be perfect for other uses such as a change bin or binder clips, etc. The can has no information about the country of origin, which is rare. It didn’t have any dents and while it was definitely basic i think it is going to last for a long time.

I have this beauty on my bathroom counter. It’s great for small trash (i.

It looks okay — shiny, not matte — but it’s a little more impractical than i was expecting. The lid is not removable, so you expect to shove your hand into it to clean it. Note that the metal edges are a little sharp. But it’s nice to have for a little space. (see photo for reference next to keurig b70 both on a mini-fridge.

This mind reader desktop mini trash can (silver) is a cute little swing-lid trash can, made of lightweight stainless steel. 99 on amazon) seems a little high, because there are ripples on the edges of the lid (as seen in the product page photos if you zoom in). As a trash receptacle, this will hold only seven (7) used k-cups. If filled full of k-cups, it is hard to empty. It strikes me as useful for collecting makeup waste like used cotton balls, but i use a small powder-room wastebasket for this kind of thing. I am a loss for how to use this on my office desk, because i have a medium-sized trash can underneath the desk. Maybe kids would have fun with it in their room?if you need a mini trash can, you could do worse. However, i don’t think this item is very practical or useful.

Nice small tabletop trash can, the lid and holder come off as well so you can easily dump it out. I got a stainless steel one, and it looks just like the photo (i know someone had gotten one that didn’t match). Swinging lid is nice, but also means you can’t get it too full. It’s found a home next to my coffee machine to collect random small trash.

The top is not removeable, so i ended up fighting to get awkward shaped items out around the lid.

simplehuman 40 litre slim step can grey plastic : Quick solution to snap on the lid!

Overall: it’s a good quality, well made trash can. Made of durable plastic with a sleek design; this trash can is a great product. I especially appreciate the locking lid design that holds up to a growing toddler. It has good foot pedal mechanism. Give it a light tap and it opens and softly closes giving you enough time to toss something in and keep going. Hold down the foot pedal and it will stay open until you manually shut it. I’ve read other reviews that said that the lid after a while just pops off the mechanism and the foot pedal stops working, this is not the case for us. We haven’t had any problems with the lid detaching, and i have checked out the area when it attaches and the plastic and metal rod seem very solid. I am not worried and i think that might be a flaw that occurred in the manufacturing that has since been resolved. I also love that it streamlined to fit into small spaces and just an overall great size for the kitchen.

This is the best kitchen garbage can i’ve ever had. I ordered it in feb 2015 and have been happily using it ever since. Pro*space-saving–it’s a little over 10′ wide*the lid goes up easily with a foot on the pedal, which after over 2 years, still works just fine. *the wheels are a great feature*it holds a lot*grey is not exactly a designer color, but if there are any smudges, they don’t show up*it doesn’t need special bags. Pretty much any bag that says ‘tall kitchen bag’ is fine. Right now i’m using goodsense drawstring tall kitchen bags, 13 gallon. These fit nicely around the lip of the can and don’t need a band to hold it on. *i don’t know why, but it doesn’t seem to hold odors. Conthe only drawback for me is that if it happens to get locked, it’s hard for me to unlock.

I ended up returning this item. Unfortunately, as soon as i took it out of the box i knew it didn’t weigh enough. My first impressions:1) very light2) seems top heavy3) lid didn’t close all the way when i released the pedal4) pet lock seemed to jam when pressed ini think i’d be willing to give it a shot if the purpose of our purchase wasn’t to keep the dog out of the garbage. He’s quite funny about it, he won’t tear at the garbage can or try to pry it open, so a lock isn’t necessary (not that this thing plastic would stop him anyway), he really just wants to ‘pick’ the exact thing out that smells good and only that one thing. So a lid is all we needed, but i also didn’t want him to knock it over on accident or to have to deal with an annoying lock every time i open/close the garbage. Anyway, this just wasn’t the garbage can for us. I gave 3 stars because i like the modern design and the pet lock and lid may resolve itself with consistent use — as plastic will do — but i thought the plastic would be thicker and the whole thing weigh a bit more.

To put on the lid fast, you must turn it upside down and hold the can at a 40 degree angle with the lid flat to the floor. Push down (one side at a time) until you here it snap on one side, then snap on the other. It will be extremely difficult to put on the lid any other way. Do not forget to hook the center piece first before you flip it over. It honestly doesn’t save much space for me; i live in an apartment with very little floor space in the kitchen so mine went into a corner in the dining room. The trash can is very front heavy due to the pedal. It’ll lean forward when you step on it and not stay grounded in the back. I’m a little bit concerned it’ll flip over one day but it hasn’t yet. I use generic 13 gallon trash bags from walmart with no problems. No need to buy brand specific bags.

I purchased this last month when i moved into my new apartment. I have a small kitchen and could save floor space if i could find a trash can narrow enough to fit into a cabinet with an 11′ inch frame. The problem i found was most 13 gallon trash cans were 11′ wide or more and would rip the sides of the bag when i removed it. I ordered simplehuman slim plastic step trash can(40 litre/10 gallon). It is a bit tapered (narrowest at the back) and found even at the widest point with the lid shut, it is 10′ inches wide. It is about 24 1/2 inches high and 19 inches deep. Best of all it fits great in my cabinet. (see my video)the lid helps keep odors down.

simplehuman 40 litre slim step can grey plastic + code K 60 pack liners : The plastic is very thin, if there’s no garbage in it, my cat or anyone bumping into it can knock it over. The lid comes detached when it arrives. Putting it on is a bit confusing, also, it doesn’t lock properly. You can close the lid and push the lock in and it will stay locked when you step on the foot pedal, however while in locked position, you can easily just lift the lid up and it’s unlocked, what’s the point then?. My dog is not going to step on the foot pedal, shes’s going to use her nose to nudge the lid open, and that’s the end of that. I had to sign up on simple human’s website to purchase a new lid to see if the one i received was defective. Customer service was easy to work with and it arrived in a good amount of time, however still doesn’t solve the issue of being completely locked.

For it’s price range, this is a fairly attractive trash can which fits in some tight spaces – but because of the way the hinge works, it needs to be spaced a small distance from the wall. The pedal on the bottom front activates the lid but the pedal mechanism works through a connector on the back concealed under a cover extending back from the lid, which, when the pedal is depressed, will tip the can forward from contact with the wall. Not really a big deal, but this will probably wear the paint off the wall over time. Regular use of the can will also cause it to migrate back into the wall, so, though minor, it’s an issue. The lock on the front is the far more annoying issue. It’s what initially prompted the purchase and is convenient for keeping dogs out. It works very well for that – our dogs have knocked it over several times but have never been able to get into it when it was locked. However, the lock is completely manual in operation, not connected to the pedal in any way. With dogs sneaking around looking for scraps, we keep it locked virtually all of the time so using the can requires a little planning. To explain – if we plan to work in the kitchen, we have to remember to unlock the can before we need it so we can use the pedal when we need to put something into the can.

However, one said 65lb black mouth cur baby loves to dumpster dive. I mean, who can blame her with all that aromatic trash in one place to explore, right?.So the cycle of coming home to an overturned trash and a guilty pup on her back wiggling with remorse was getting fairly old. I bought this to hopefully deter her. The latching feature prevents my trash monster from gaining access. The first day i came home to the trash on its side and the liner that was visible half destroyed.

The hinge on the back is made of plastic and wears away over time. When the slot gets too big, the lid falls off whenever you try to open it. I don’t see an obvious way to repair it. Edit: simplehuman replaced the lid under warranty.

This trash can is a must if you have ‘deprived’ dogs that must supplement their high dollar, grain free, all natural bison meat kibble diet with the detritus of our rather wasteful human existence. The attached image is an excellent example of what happens when you spend the $40 on this nearly perfectly designed trash can and forget to lock the lid. Buy it if you have trash loving dogs (i swear they are dogs, and not raccoons as the photo might suggest) like mine, and just remember to lock up this trash fortress from would be invaders. It probably works well for small children too.

It was great for a 6 months now the lid won’t stay put. If you step on the pedal the lid just falls right off. [edited feb 2016 after i wrote this review and gave a 1 star review, i sent a complain to simple human. They sent me a replacement lid and since then it has worked perfectly. I think that the lid that came with the can was just a faulty one. ]

I have had it for a month and am glad that i got it vs. My target up&up trash bags have just the right amount of stretch to remain secure without undue struggle to install. The bag is fully filled when the trash can is full. No extra space to try and fill. Tapered shape makes the bag pretty easy to withdraw. Step on mechanism works well with automatic closing after stepping on. The lid can remain open if pushed fully open by hand.

I was very reluctant paying $40 for a plastic trash can, but with the impeccable reviews, i knew i was making a good decision. I’ve had mine for one month now and it’s been great. The step to open the lid is as reliable as it was the first day i used it and the lid closes super quietly. It’s a perfect trash can for those who live in a small space. The glad tall kitchen bags (13 gallon) fit this trash can perfectly. I am very happy with my purchase.

I purchased this for a narrow space in my kitchen. The color is a matte gunmetal color with silver accents. I did have a brief tussle when putting to put the lid on but got it on the forth try. I love it’s depth which allows larger items to be disposed of without trouble compared to the round trash can that this replaced. I have no problem with it moving around when i use the pedal to raise the lid as some have reported. I really like the quiet close feature. I use generic 13 gallon trash bags with ties and they fit perfectly. A note to those who order white. That was my first color choice but i returned it because it did looked more like an dingy white or ivory color when i placed it next to my white appliances.

When i was waiting for this garbage can to arrive, i bought a hefty locking garbage can hoping to save some money. My dogs managed to knock over & unlock the hefty and still eat trash. I finally pulled this one out (which was 2x the price of the hefty), and tried it out. My dog hasn’t managed to open this one since i took it out a few months ago. This can is definitely worth paying the extra $20 since it actually gets the job done. I forget to lock the can sometimes, but my dogs have given up on their nighttime ritual since they know the trash treats will not come easily to them anymore. This garbage can is different than others bc the latch lock is much stronger than others. I sometimes have to use two hands to lock and unlock the can.

I’m very satisfied getting this trash can for our kitchen. I was looking for something slim with big capacity. Also the direction which the lid opened was important to me, so i could put two trash can next to each other. One for regular trash and one for recycling. My first choice was stainless steel, but couldn’t justify the price, so i decided to go with this plastic one. (i could get 2 for the price of 1 stainless steel trash can. ) i actually feel very comfortable with this. The plastic is very sturdy, and after using it for a year i still don’t have any scratch or dents (see picture). The wheel on the bottom makes it easy to pull out while i’m cleaning the kitchen floor. Also having a step pedal to open the lid makes it easy to throw away stuff when your hand isn’t clean, thus keeping the lid clean.

I use this to store cloth diaper laundry. Pros:-contains odors-locking lid-fits well in small places while still having a large capacity-i use this paired with fuzzibunz hanging diaper pail and the planetwise wetbag and it fits both styles-great pricecons:i don’t have any complaints.

i spent a while searching amazon and in-stores for the perfect trash can that would fit properly in my small kitchen, and let me say i am thrilled with my purchase of the simplehuman 40 liter / 10. 6 gallon slim kitchen step trash can, grey plastic with secure slide lock. This trash can is very aesthetically pleasing, and in my opinion, looks nicer than a stainless steel can that costs triple the price. It’s easy to keep looking clean because the matte finish helps disguise smudges. The foot pedal works flawlessly and the lid closes very quietly. I use kirkland’s 13-gallon drawstring trash bags from costco and they fit this can just fine. This is a great space saving trash can that looks stylish and modern. It appears to be made of high quality materials, and comes with a five year warranty so you know you are getting your money’s worth with this purchase.

I selected this trash can mainly based on its slim profile. My kitchen is very awkwardly-shaped, and it only had one narrow space to put a full-size garbage can, so after reading the other reviews, i chose this. It fits the space well, and the step works well. The color choices are also great–it’s nice to be able to choose something that more attractive than shiny white plastic. The reason i rate this at four stars instead of five is the price point. At the end of the day, it is still just a plastic step trash can, so if the space in my kitchen had allowed me to be more flexible with the size, i would not have paid this much. However, since i did need a slim can, and since the company offered some attractive color options, i’m still happy with my purchase.

Truth be told, what i truly desire in the deepest corner of my heart is simplehuman’s stainless steel butterfly step trash can, but i just could not justify (to my bank account) spending $160 on a trash can. Alas, i went with the plastic slim step-child, and although it lacks the diva flair of the butterfly, it’s a sturdy little workhorse that provides maximum capacity in a very slim size. I have a galley kitchen with a narrow floor to ceiling window at one end in lieu of a wall. It provides nice lighting but isn’t a good place for the garbage can, so i needed something that can fit under a sink cabinet or sit against the end of the counters and still be narrow enough not to block the entry way too much. This garbage can fits the bill nicely. The stepping mechanism feels sturdy even when the can is empty, with no wobble to it, and the top stays open if you lift it up by hand to 90 degrees, which is nice when i’m dumping scraps off of the counter into the can. The mouth of it is fairly wide and square, so larger items are easily disposed (fits gallon milk containers easily). It shuts slowly and quietly, no splattering, and seals nicely. The wheels make it easy to move it around. Locking feature is a nice touch to deter small children and pets from getting into the trash.

If you buy this retail it comes preassembled, but thankfully another reviewer described how to put it together. So i followed his directions with one modification. First put the foot peddle metal attacher through the center hole in the lid. Then turn upside down at an angle (about 40 degrees) and snap in each side separately until you hear the snap. It does require a little muscle. I gave it a 4 star because i felt for the price you pay the lid should come attached. Once you put it together right, it’s pretty much as described.

I’ve had this trash can for about two years now. It works well in small spaces – mine fits perfectly in a little nook between the kitchen, laundry room, and pantry. The wheel makes it easy to pull the whole trashcan outside to transfer trash to the outside bin, which helps avoid any leaky trash bag disasters. The foot thing for opening it works well and makes it easy to toss in food scraps or whatever without making a mess. The trash can has held up fine; i don’t expect to need to replace it any time soon. The trash can is a little smaller than the standard 13-gallon kitchen trash can and trash bags, which i love. I use 13 gallon bags with handles, and having a little extra space makes it easy to close the bags on trash day and be sure they aren’t overfilled, and there’s always extra space in the bag for the random stuff i always gather up while i’m trying to take the trash out. So, even though not being a perfect fit for standard trash bags might not seem like an advantage, that’s what i love the most.

Gold Star Kitchens Compost Bin – Premium Quality SAE304 Surgical Grade Stainless Steel Pail – 1, EXCELLENT product, very sturdy and clean appearance

Im in love with my compost bin. I’ve had it a few months and it works great. It’s attractive in my kitchen and a good size and most importantly it never smells. I also found some nifty compost degradable bags to line it with so i just remove the bag when full and place it in my compost bin. I’m glad i read the reviews as i was trying to select the right bin. Very happy with this and will order another one as well.

Keeps compost smells and bugs from overtaking our kitchen. Should’ve purchased this years ago.

Composer been not only looks great it is the perfect size. My likes it so much, primarily how it looks, that she doesn’t want to even mess it up by putting scraps in it.

“GREAT BIN NO SMELL WHATSOEVER!, Great quality, looks good, no odor or flies, a great counter top size”

Excellent product, very sturdy and clean appearance. And it seems to not have any problems with rust or corrosion like some of our others have. The customer service is absolutely great. Answered all my questions and even sent me a set of filters. Great experience and product.

Item as advertised and delivered on time.

I looked at many compost bins before settling on this one as it had everything i wanted and great reviews. Looks great on my kitchen counter and is extremely convenient to use.

I’ve been using it for over a month. It is durable, the lid opens freely, the filters block out smell and bugs and i like the rubber padding on the handle. The deliver was quick as well.

Absolutely no odor love this composter.

Well made, attractive, a great counter top size, and comes with excellent customer support. Just what i was looking for.

Solid container and works and looks good on the counter.

Do not smell anything with the lid on.

It is easy to clean and smells fresh. It is large enough to handle the compost from chicken piccata dinner. No plastic bin to harbor smells. It has two filters in the lid and an extra set of filters.

I love how much it can hold. We use this to hold our kitchen compost before adding it to our larger compost outside. There is absolutely no odor (even with banana peels). We can use it for a full week before emptying it into the larger compost bin. I would definitely recommend this product for those who want a clean and easy way to compost.

Good quality, we added the disposable bags to make cleaning easier.

The bin and other orders came right on time and i really like this bin. We have just gotten a new cat who is 6 1/2 months old and the bin keeps her out of the garbage. I would tell anyone that they can and should use this.

Prompt deliveryattractive kitchen compost binextra filters.

Love this, it is the perfect size, easy to empty and clean and looks good on the kitchen counter.

Exactly as stated really nice addition.

Looks great on the counter next to the sink. The cushioning material on the handle protects the bin and does away with bothersome clangs if the handle is accidentally allowed to dropped. Filters are easy to replace.

Perfect size for the counter, looks great and no smell at all with all the peelings etc. In there for several daysi would recommend this product for sure.

It arrived quickly and i love the big size plus the silcon grip on the handle is an extra nice touch in additionto the extra filters.

Compared to our ceramic one that broke this is real good so far. Empties easily and cleans up well. Time will tell if the durability is there.

Wish i found this years ago.

Take some of the curve off of knowing i am throwing something away instead of recycling, composting or re-using. Can’t find these at the grocery store. Thank you reynolds consumer products for making them available on amazon.

Surprised by how thick they were.

Not as strong as the ones that come in the green box but still pretty good.

Hefty Renew Recycled Plastic Tall Kitchen Drawstring Trash Bags (13 Gallon, 40 Count) : I like that they’re environmentally friendly. They don’t hold up well to rips, though.

Okay, but the previous generation of these recycled (gray-colored) garbage bags was better — seemed thicker, stronger.

Household good that i buy every month it’s a little pricer than the stores.

I appreciate having products available that are made from recycled materials. It’s great to recycle products from my home and even better to follow up with purchasing recycled products.

Ordered from amazon because local stores stopped carrying this product.

Not as durable as the usual hefty product, possibly due to the recycled materials. Seems to poke through more easily.

I like them so far and feel better about them being mostly recycled. They fit our trashcan and haven’t torn yet. They don’t seem fragile, but i won’t be filling it up to the max.

I purposely purchased these bags because they were make with recycled plastic. I was impressed that they are not cheap or flimsy and appear just as strong as my regular hefty garbage bags. I will continue to purchase them.
