Norpro 1 Gallon Ceramic Compost Keeper : If you dump your compost keeper every day or two, this is a nice product.

The perfect complement to my outdoor composter. I bought this ceramic compost keeper, because i was not willing to pay for the stainless steel version. The only disadvantage i can see about this one is the possibility of chipping it; however, it’s just a matter of handling it with care. I initially selected red, because i wanted to buy it directly from amazon. At that point they weren’t selling the white one that i could find. It turns out i love the red one; it adds a little bright spot to my kitchen that is probably good feng shui. I am finally using the outdoor compost bin that i paid quite a bit of $$ for. I could not get in the habit of using the outdoor bin without something to ‘catch the scraps’ in the kitchen. This is the perfect motivator. I got the book, let it rot, to help me learn how to do things ‘properly’.

Attractive but not funtiona. Compost looks good on my black counter top. Wish it was larger as we eat a lot of vegetables and fill it every day. The handle is not functional. The hooks always slip off and are useless. We do not have room under the sink for a larger container. Looking for a better compost keeper.

I purchased this and another compost keeper. If you aren’t planning on carrying out the container to your composter and/or use a liner then this will work just fine. However, sometimes, the bio bags start composting by the end of the day or leak and you need to take the container out and this just isn’t one for that. So, if this is only staying on your counter and you have a routine that works with that, this is awesome. For me, i keep the addable french inspired painted steel one to use on a daily basis and this as a back up (plan on rinsing and airing them in the sun occasionally).

Clean, simple lines for useful crock. This black compost crock is beautiful in my newly remodeled kitchen. I had to put felt pads on the bottom as it left scratch marks on the new countertop (also black). Works as well as the old crock but just prettier.

Works great if you can keep the lid off. When we first decided to start vermicomposting, we knew we needed something to contain our kitchen scraps for the week so as not to disturb our worm community too much. We decided on this compost keeper because the price was right, the reviews were pretty good and the color went well with our decor. It ended up being perfect for our needs but we don’t use it exactly as it is intended. The design fit right in with my lineup of white porcelain bowls and cake stands. It looks like it was meant to be displayed with them, just as i’d hoped. The size is perfect for about a week of scraps from two people. We eat a good amount of vegetables, though. If you are more than two people and eat a ton of veggies, you’d be emptying this pretty frequently, so i might consider a larger size. Lastly, the handle makes it easy to pick up and bring out to the composter. Even though it’s just a thick wire bent around two nubs, the handle on our piece seems to be fitted well. It doesn’t look like it’ll slip off unless we really force it, and the handle itself is thick enough that we wont bend it on accident. Now for what i didn’t care for. I believe the intent of this compost keeper was to hide your kitchen scraps while still allowing them to breathe through the little holes in the lid.

Bought it for my folks – the color is perfect for their kitchen. They are just starting the compost journey – and are thrilled with how easy it is to use. They filled it up in 2 days. Super durable, easy to clean. Looks beautiful on the counter top – i have a white one on my counter.

Cute and practical little pot. . We recently purchased a house with a huge garden and a compost bin so i really wanted to compost all my vegetable scraps. This works perfectly for that. I fill it up and then take it out and dump it. For as small as it is it holds a lot of scraps. My only complaint is that it stains. I have had this for a few months and the inside is stained from coffee and tea grounds. I never let my scraps sit for more than a day and always wash it with warm soapy water and can’t seem to get rid of the stains. Oh well at least it is just the inside stained.

Lid lasted for about 16 months. I really wanted a black compost counter bin because our counters and backsplash are very dark and i didn’t want this to be a prominent part of our decor. I was warned by some friends (just after i placed the order) that the lid would break. Sure enough, a piece about 1 inch across chipped off the lid within about 6 months. I glued it back in place, and the rubber gasket helped keep it in place (it also acts as a little bit of a shock-absorber too). But now, 16 months later, the lid’s rim has chipped again and the whole lid has cracked in half so i am going to have to get another one. I’m going to get a black metal one that will come to almost $50 with shipping, but i know it won’t break after less than a year and a half.

If you dump your compost keeper every day or two, this is a nice product. . This is a good compost keeper for use on your counter top. What i like most is the attractive, bright red design. The size is also perfect for use next to the kitchen sink. Also, the cost for this keeper is $10-15 less than only slightly better products i had found. However, the vented top with ‘filter’ is not as nice as i had hoped. The filter is not very substantial and it is held in place by pressing the filter into the slightly smaller sized top. The filter has stayed in place, so far, but i keep expecting it to fall out when i open the lid. The filter does not keep the compost from smelling after more than a couple days. Also, the handle is held to the side by simply twisting around the post (see product photo).

Nice product but if i did it over again – stainless. I purchased this product after already owning the stainless version for a year. I gave the stainless to someone else because this white ceramic pedestal – looking object seemed to fit with my decor better. But what i’ve found is, (1) i am for the first time a bit nervous about breaking it or breaking glass tea pots when i shake the loose tea into this container, (2) it is certainly heavier than the stainless when lugging it (the weight is not a deal breaker), and (3) it does not seem to seal around the edge of the top anywhere as well as its stainless counterpart resulting in fruit flies getting attracted to it and actually inside on a regular basis – something that seemed to happen less with the stainless one. So carbon filter helps a lot but the leaky cover undermines the filter. Still compared to not having either choice and seeing how nicely made this object is, it gets the benefit of just over half credit in my scoring. I’d go back to stainless in a heartbeat when i feel the moment has come.

Like the other reviewer i find the handle comes off all the time, but i didn’t mind the look at all. It is virtually odorless, even when almost overflowing, and i stick the filter right in the dishwasher from time to time. I have only handwashed the crock, but it is easy to care for. I’m happy with it, and am not making hardly any waste since it arrived.

It looks nice other than one side of it has a lot. I just received this item yesterday (a day earlier than i expected – that was nice). It looks nice other than one side of it has a lot of tiny holes in the porcelain. I was pretty disappointed to see that. I don’t know how the item works yet as i just got it, but wanted to comment on the look of it.

Rubbermaid Commercial Brute LLDPE Round Container : I like it and it hold trash very well

Great garbage can at a great price. I bought 12 of these along with the bottom dollies (wheels) for one of our elementary schools. We put a couple of them in each hall and have the students empty the classroom wastebaskets into them. At night the custodian just wheels them outside to the dumpster and empties them. These hold a lot of garbage and are very, very durable. Actually when full of garbage they are too heavy to lift up and dump into the dumpster but we use can liners and just pull them out of the can. I’m sure they will last a long time. Buying on amazon saved us money. They were less expensive than all the distributors in our area and anywhere else i looked online. Very happy with our purchase.

Really smaller than i imagined. It’s very short and only fit two full kitchen trash bags. I’m sure i could smash more in there, but just as it two bags will go in. The quality isn’t bad, but i wasn’t expecting it to be so small. It also comes in a huuuge packing box with lots and lots of paper. You end up with more trash than the trash can will hold when you order this.

Ain’t the prettiest but it’s durable. I’ve lived in a house now for 5 years and i’ve been through 2 garbage cans. Sanitation men don’t have the time to pick up your garbage and nicely place that can on the curb nicely. Both garbage cans that i owned just couldn’t take the abuse. I’ve only had this can for a short time, but i can tell it take a beating. Both with the weather and the sanitation man. Sure it reminds of the janitor’s can from grade school. At the same time, it’s a garbage can. Do your job: hold garbage, make sure the lid is tight enough so the raccoons can’t get to them, hold up with weather changes, and be durable.

I think that this is the answer to a sturdy garden waste can at an affordable price. I think that this is the answer to a sturdy garden waste can at an affordable price. It took a lot of looking on the amazon site as there are just too many to choose from. Some are way too expensive, some are too small, some are too large and some are just right like this one. Actually i bought two and may go back for seconds.

This is made of material that is food safe. The can is durable and well-constructed. I use mine to store highly purified water for a salt water reef tank. I cannot afford to have chemicals leach out in the water. I have used these for years.

I like it and it hold trash very well. It’s a trash can, not sure what there is to say, but yes, i like it and it hold trash very well. ? i do think it’s dumb that they sell the lid separately. I bet they’d be money ahead if they just included it.

Durable; good luck finding a lid that closes securely; it takes a 37 gallon liner bag or the seams will rip. Could not find a grey lid to match so wound up with a green one: rubbermaid commercial fg263100dgrn brute hdpe lid for round waste. That is too large, see my review of it if they printed it, which i doubt, because it was ‘not very nice’ [‘view tips and guidelines’. Ok this is a nice rugged rubbermaid base but why sell it without the lid???.Why make us guess whether a lid that says it fits a 32 gallon base will fit snugly?. The one i ordered did not fit snugly so i have a swell base with a tipsy top. If all you want is a tough base with no lid, this one is fine, though expensive. I don’t know what else to say about it. Only comes in a few weird colors?. Oh, i takes a 37 gallon hefty or similar bag– have tried all other sizes, really, and only 37 works without tearing a seam. Let’s see if they print this. ]

I bought two of the 10 gallon cans for my aquarium water changes (one for drain, one for new water). They are absolutely perfect, great little garbage cans and very sturdy. The 10 gallon is a great size if you have a 50 gallon tank or smaller and can be carried while full of water. A 20 gallon full of water would probably be too heavy for most people to lift. If you have a 100+ gallon aquarium i would recommend one of the larger cans with the wheels.

My favorite part of owning this trash can was the way. My favorite part of owning this trash can was the way it was shipped. It was just sitting inside a large cardboard box. No packing materials, no wrapping, just sitting there. I found it funnier than it should have been. I guess i like the little hooks next to the handles that help hold in the bags?. There’s a pro if i’ve ever seen one.

Space-saving and high quality made us choose these containers. . We bought three of these containers with lids to store our wild bird seed, laying pellets and hen scratch. They easily hold a fifty-pound sack of feed and the lids fit securely. We chose these because of their space saving feature and that they are stackable. Perfect for our garage and still allows parking space for a large sedan.
